Pricey chocolate

We've been watching Netflix's new Chinese SciFi series the 3 Body Problem .  The first episode was good - as was the fourth. The second and third were a bit  lacklustre. Things seem to be picking up speed a little - which is just as well. The eight episodes have cost Netflix $200 million . That's right up there alongside the cost of 'The Crown'.

Very Scottish weather this morning. Sunny one minute, torrential rain the next. Probably forty, maybe fifty, extremely eager German golfers down at the first tee on the Old Course. The club house which has been a building site for the last 18 months is now a hive of activity with workmen everywhere. Seems the Royal and Ancient want it to be finished for Easter. Better a year late than not at all. The pre-Easter overtime bill will be sizeable.

In the bakers window a large chocolate rabbit. It's priced at £45. One of the suave Manhattanites tells me that cocoa futures have been one of his best investments over the last 12 months. In the space of a year cocoa prices have gone from $2750 a tonne to $10000. Poor weather in Ghana and the Ivory Coast together with disease  has driven the price of cocoa through the roof. Angus wonders how many locals can afford to spend £45 on a chocolate rabbit .

A cushion design that makes me chuckle.

Interesting read about laziest dogs. My son’s gorgeous Goldie spent a lot of time at our house and was very good at getting academic husband out of the book and off for a walk. By which she meant a leisurely, sniffy stroll! She also didn’t ever, ever RETRIEVE, she’d chase, and usually catch a stick or ball, but never ever actually return it to you! A heart overflowing with love and affection, but definitely deficient in the brain department! She’s been gone nearly two years but I still miss her dreadfully.

Have saved the dog history article to read later - it's time to take my dog for a walk!
That chocolate rabbit is a ridiculous price, unless it's filled with lots of very expensive chocolates! No doubt someone will buy it.

During my two years working in Oklahoma I scquired a 'London, Paris, Rome, Bartlesville' mug (sadly no longer in one piece). At least St Andrews is somewhat famous!
Cheers, Gail.

Why would anyone put a bumblebee in a matchbox?

When I was at College in Florida, I saw a giant chocolate rabbit in the window of a Godiva shop, and I thought how do you eat a 50-pound (45 kilo) chocolate bunny. The answer is the same as how do you eat an elephant, one bite at a time.

I live in the path of totality for the eclipse on the north shore of lake Ontario. Many parties are planned at Wineries, Breweries, and Distilleries. Beach parties and children's gatherings as well. We hope we are prepared for the tourists who don't usually arrive until a few months later. Here's crossing fingers for clear skies.

I especially enjoyed the bumblebee piece. It's nice to know there is so much interest in how to help a stranded bee.
