The better weather has the lobster boats out. By first light there's half a dozen of them bobbing away in the bay. This level of activity signals that the fishermen are the recipients of ' I'll buy all you can catch ' orders from the local 5 star hotels. Cuisine in these parts tends to the lobster heavy surf and turf style beloved by the well heeled golfing fraternity.
A group of excited American gentlemen are chatting away to the Starbucks barista who is doing her best to deal with their orders. They are telling her how great it is to be here. " Our flight from Newark arrived an hour early " says a gentleman with a Navy Golf hat. " We got a great deal from our travel agent and flew business " adds another. The barista smiles non-committaly while struggling with their exotic ( for these parts ) order for Caramel Macchiatos. Angus is surprised anyone still uses travel agents but keeps this thought to himself.
It was only a question of time and this morning the inevitable happened. 'The Font' is displaying the symptoms of the 'savage wee thing'- itchy eyes, a cough and tiredness.

Sending healing ether vibes to The Font, now... may the lurgy be brief! Good to see Angus stays true to type on the matter of chocolate rations... YAM xx
Best wishes for a speedy recovery for The Font. I was in the supermarket here yesterday, and there was an enormous display of Lindt chocolate bunnies. This year, we'll have both kids home for Easter and, notwithstanding that they are now technically adults, they will be expecting their Easter baskets. Decorating Easter eggs is a challenge in a country where all the eggs are brown, but I found some metallic coloring that should work. As to dietary issues, I will again side with the Norwegians.
I had a gander at the prices. Ouch!
Regarding obesity, I would point a finger at the overabundance of cheap, low nutritional quality, junk foods readily available and certainly not nut oils. Alas, and across the Atlantic, I've succumbed to the 'savage wee thing' and am feeling rather sleepless, creaky and cranky at the moment. May "The Fonts" version be short lived.
A flock of Lindt chocolate sheet appeared on my desk yesterday afternoon, it is that time of the year.
May The Font have a low key weekend and kick the savage wee bug by Monday. Perhaps a piece or two of chocolate will be a nice little pick-me-up during her recovery.
Wishing 'The Font' a very speedy recovery, aided by a piece or two of chocolate , especially if you share your mint creams, Angus.
Sadly an over-indulgence of the good things can lead to obesity. I remember the first time we went to the U.S. in the early 70's. We were amazed at the vast portions of food - and the obesity of many of the people we encountered.
Get well soon wishes for The Font.
A dear friend worked the night shift for years and always was very depressed
. He’s now retired and while the depression is still present to a degree, it is noticeably less.
I hope the Font's "wee savage thing" is short-lived! And no beef tallow please.
Duck fat, dark chocolate and red wine have served well so far...
Best wishes for a prompt recovery-at least before your trip- to the Font.
dNice to see yur name, Jake! I've missed you.
Wishing the Font a speedy recovery!
