I shut my eyes in order to see.

Out past the old widows house at the crossroads. Bob leading the way. Sophie following along behind. There's dew on the grass this morning. A sotto voce sign that the seasons are changing. A carpet of sunflowers stretching all the way from the top of the ridge down to the stream in the valley floor. Bob finds a dessicated vole. He briefly shows me this before swallowing it . A co-mingled look of joy and pride etched on his face . '' Didn't I do well ? "

To the morning market for some freshly made spinach and mozarella ravioli. A detour to the cheese stall. The cheese lady an old PON acquaintance.  A tiny sliver of St.Nectaire met with a whimper of delight from Bob. A cube of Reblochon followed by much tongue licking. Before we leave Sophie lets out an enormous, and decidedly unladylike, belch.

Not sure anyone gave Sophie the blueprint for ladylike behaviour. Thank goodness!
Am wondering if there is a correlation between leg length and tongue length?
Cheers, Gail.

What with the cheese and the belch, the vole (shudder) and the photo of Bob I think today's title should have been: Eye of newt, and toe of frog, wool of bat, and tongue of dog.

Yesterday's post was so, so much ... nicer.

But I still loved reading this one. Apart from the vole.

I am with Bob. St. Nectaire is one of my favourites, although I wouldn't say no to some of that Roquefort!

Those sunflowers are so lovely.

At least it was a 'burp' and not a...well, you know... ;-)

I hope your day and the spinach and mozarella ravioli are equally enjoyable!!

So many cheeses, so little time.
Dessicated vole, that must have been a real treat in Bob's eyes...hope he isn't affected by it.
Sophie is such a diva, but we can allow her one unladylike belch....it must have caught her unaware.
Enjoy the ravioli.

Our pup likes to burp at humans. I tell visitors she only does this to people she likes. The humans don't believe that one.

A Beagle mix of mine, now long departed, played with a mouse till I called her, "Emma!" She knew her fun was at an end, so, before I could reach her, she swallowed the live mouse whole, the tail slithering through her teeth like spaghetti. I almost hurled. We zoomed home and I called my vet. After the staff pulled themselves up from the floor to where they had fallen in laughter, I was told to watch for any intestinal upset. Not Emma - cast iron gut proved on more than one occasion. She is proud of Bob and of Sophie's belch :).
