Balmy.
Sophie is up bright and early. She stares to let me know that it's time to get the day started.
Bob joins her .
In case I've missed the point they clamber onto their wooden table and power stare .
Bob licks his sisters ear. She sighs and gives me a look that says 'this wouldn't be happening if you'd been quicker'.
The first of the seasons Gariguette strawberries on sale. Six weeks earlier than last year. This mild weather is bizarre.
The fresh vegetable section continues to amaze
The mayor arrives with two suitcases of documents. The full village archives were lost in a fire in June 1945. The two suitcases contain everything that was salvageable. The first document I find and translate is the census for 1800. The population then was 725. Today it's 67.
'The Font' is off in two weeks to look at stars from the top of a mountain in California. Angus is asked if he'd like to come. The thought of three teetotal days spent above the cloud line with a dozen astrophyicists is uninviting. Angus opts to spend time in Laguna Beach. He's never been to Laguna Beach but the name sounds balmy.

Oh no...'The Font' off to gaze at stars, and you off to Laguna Beach - do the Pons know? Will the next two weeks be full of words that are spelled out, rather than spoken?
The village population decline calls to mind similar statistics in communities throughout much of the Scottish Highland and Islands.
Bring the Pons, I live in Santa Barbara, I'll dog sit and you can hit the beach 👍🏻
Laguna Beach IS balmy. And quite lovely.
Beach and beer experience?
I think the suitcases of documents sounds most interesting! Perhaps some of the events in the documents will help the very old farmer to remember.
After visiting Babycakes in Santa Barbara, please bring Bob and Sophie to extreme Northern California. We can almost promise you can spend time at a beach with 40 mph wind gusts and icy driving rain. At least if you were here today. I'm guessing you will not even be tempted.
Laguna Beach is beautiful. Botanical gardens at the fancy hotel. Lots of galleries and fancy eats. beautiful beaches and places to sit and daydream. Enjoy.
How did you get the perfect photo of sophie, the ear flick and that look?
Power stare! Love that...
Cost Centre 3 is on call over Easter and will be joining me in Laguna Beach for some family mano a mano bonding afterwards. Daydreaming sounds wonderful but in that company is unlikely.
One of those dog photos that would be impossible to take if you were actually trying.
