Ordinariness.

The farmer shows up to dig a drainage ditch in the field across the lane from The Rickety Old Farmhouse.

Bob and his sister watch spellbound as a large mechanical digger is unloaded and a ditch excavated. The digger is then loaded back onto a flatbed truck which has been parked just in front of Bobs stump seat.

As it drives back up the ramp the large digger clunks and clanks. Bob sensibly opts to dismount from his stump seat and monitor the situation from further back in the garden.

After an hour and a half the digger, the truck and the farm hands all go. Sophie is exhausted. She has kept up a running commentary to let the world know what is happening.

This morning Bob is modelling his Ringo look.

The phone rings early. I pick it up but there's silence on the other end. A few moments later it rings again. I answer with a grumpy ' Allo '. It's a very sad sounding Loic. He tells me his mother has been admitted to hospital . From what I can understand ( his language confused ) his mother is in a bad way. He went with her in the ambulance and has spent the night by her bedside. He tells me he can't come to blow leaves in the garden next week.

For the emergency room staff such things are part of the ordinariness of the daily routine. For Loic, who is one of Gods happy people, the explanations the staff give him about 'finality' are mysterious and impersonal. How does a busy doctor or nurse explain what's happening to Loic ? What does he understand ? What escapes him ? I've often marveled at the devotion of the parents of these happy ones. Loic is offered up a 'bon courage'.  Madame Bay is phoned. Time for the village to pull together.

Here's some Sunday morning music : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0bblfBVMjw

Team Angus is going to be put into action I can tell. But what a wonderful place this is where you live that there is genuine concern for Loic and his mother. You are all to be admired and congratulated. If only more people in the world thought like team Angus

Poor Loïc. Best wishes to him and the village team. And to his mother, of course.

I am so sorry to hear about Loic's mother, and do hope that she will rally round. Please pass on my best wishes to them both.
Not a quiet Sunday then, with Sophie in full voice... It's a great shame that Bob couldn't get out to de-threaten that
digger - those things need taking down a peg or two !

Perhaps it wasn't that glass of ice water which felled his mother after all. Hopefully, the hospital staff will discuss the situation with someone who can gently explain the situation to Loic. Here in the US privacy laws prohibit any revelations about a person's diagnosis except with next of kin.

I've always wondered whether it was the camera angle which caused Sophie's paws to appear so much larger and fluffier than Bob's. But today's photo makes me think they are indeed much bigger.

Thank God he has people like you. He is in my prayers. I love the picture of Sophie's paws.

What a grand day for Bob and Sophie. With the PONS on guard, no need to worry that the digger might make a sudden run at the ROF. I’m sorry to hear about Loic’s mother. One wishes that these moments could be postponed indefinitely.

Sending good thoughts to Loric and his mother. Hoping someone can gently help him understand, though I think he does.

Loic is devoted to his mother and dedicated to his work. I know in my heart the village will be with him during this difficult and confusing time. Because that is the kind and loving community you are.
