Kept inside.
Bob jumps into the back of the car with his slice of carrot. Nothing like a slice of chilled carrot to get the day off to a good start. His sister is incandescent with rage that he has something to eat and she doesn't. She's already wolfed her treat down in one gulp inside the house. She is not mollified when the concept of 'patience' is explained to her. Faced with an irate diva Bob eats his carrot very slowly.
16 degrees on Monday. Forecast to be in the 30's today. The water boiling out of the ground with the heat. We head off to the bakers with the windows down. PON ears fly in the breeze. Iced water is brought in a bowl by the young lady behind the counter. The concept of iced water is a new - and intriguing one - for the PONs. Ice cubes are fished out and chewed witn intense concentration. Bob has one of his '' Blimey ! Who'd have thought it ? ' moments.
Some dinner time filet from the butcher.
There is nearly a 'moment' when another sheepdog arrives. Thankfully, the PONs are on their way out when the new 'friend' shows up. The owner is quite relaxed about the enthusiastic greeting.
The angelic duo are adjusting to their hot weather routine. Up early for walks, in the garden until the heat builds, then inside until five when it cools down again. Bob doesn't understand why he should be kept inside at all.

No such complaint here in sunny Suffolk where am staying a fortnight... every excuse to be outside is being taken! YAM xx
Sliced carrot - what better way to start the day ! Very much hotter here - getting on for 30ÂșC by 9 a.m., so we're up early for our morning walk, too.
Sounds about the same as here in Atlanta - temps around 90 degrees, but with 70% humidity (is it humid there?), which is the real killer :( I am on the same schedule - early morning walk, work in the yard until around 11 am, then not out again until 5 pm...
Do the PONS get clipped in summer?
Osa LOVES her ice!
They used to go to the groomers but after an episode with an inattentive groomer, an escaped PON, an open church door, a funeral, an open coffin and an irate priest we have moved over to self grooming. Little and often. The $300 investment in the AGC two speed clippers has been the best investment we've ever made. They may not look stylish but they're comfortable. Any thoughts on what to do with the mountain of PON hair gratefully received.
The angelic duo love the intellectual challenge of retrieving the ice cubes from the bowl. As good as a Kong !
Atlanta is the worst. Many, many years ago I once did a parachute course at Fort Benning and have never been so uncomfortable in my life.
30 by 9 is too much. We don't hit that until noon.
And temperatures in Scotland set to rise again next week.
Pillows?! If I knew I’d get rid of my horses’ hair the same way
Looks like Bob loves his carrots. They must taste good on a really hot day. The bakery has some delicious looking stuff. Plus they all look huge in the picture. We are now going to be wanting some sweets now here at the office. Thanks for the share. Stay cool. Have a great day.

Good idea. PON hair might not be an ideal cool filling for a summers night. Great in a Siberian winter though !
We love summer, french pastries, steak and Bob with his carrot. A perfect post of a perfect day for us - thanks.
I once knew a couple who saved all their dog's hair for a year or two and then sent it off to a spinner who made it into knitting wool. The lady actually knitted a sweater with it, but I don't know what happened after that, if it was ever worn. Had to be very warm but the small of wet dog hair when washed didn't sound too appealing to me. She is in her mid nineties now...I should ask her whatever happened to that sweater.
Our ice maker is getting its work out as bowls of ice are a staple now at our house with the hot summer now here. Most of the dogs love them, and think of them as a meal. Me, I could make a meal out of anything at the bakery.
Believe it or not, I think it's worse in south Louisiana where I was born and grew up - even hotter plus a lot more rain...
