The PONs know only a simple world of given love and returned loyalty. Bob sits by me on the concrete storm drain. He has his hair tousled, is told this is 'his country' and listens to a few words of Chaucer.
'Welcome the wanderer
Make home for those yn neede
Acknowledge sharid fragilitye
These are the bravest deedes'
'The Fonts' birthday. We go for lunch to a new restaurant 12 kilometres away. It's in the midst of flax fields and is approached along a single track road that fords two streams and bisects a horse farm. We're the only guests. A Parisian has sold his company and invested a small fortune rebuilding a small hameau as luxury rentals. The food sophisticatedly delicious. A first for me - Orgeat sorbet. What a taste ! We can't decide what Orgeat is in English. We settle on Barley water. Barley water sorbet flavoured with almond and orange blossom - who'd expect to find it in deepest, deepest France profonde ? Seems it's a Lebanese recipe although we've never seen it in the mid-east : http://lacuisinedeamal.com/2014/08/sorbet-au-sirop-d-orgeat.html

The food is beautiful if not bountiful.
What a feast for the eyes.
A belated Happy Birthday to the Font!
Orgeat is new to me too. The food is beautifully presented although those of us with a healthy appetite might be hoping no-one left the restuarant still feeling hungry.
Cheers, Gail.
Chaucers words beat 'I really don't care ' any day.
I think it's almond syrup
Tracking down the English is proving difficult. We've also come up with this :

Exquisite Simplicity!
I think it's maybe an almond syrup too, vague recollection of its use along with rose water over a rather delicious Lebanese cake.
Lunch looks beautiful but potentially unfilling. Maybe a stop off at the bakers on the way home for some pastry?
Lovely lunch. I hope it filled the stomach as well as it did the eyes.
Catching up after a week of no internet -- how did we ever survive back then? I noticed the other day that France24 referred to the forthcoming "Trump-Poutine" summit. Insert fast-food jokes here.
Happy Birthday, Ms. Font!
Many birthday wishes for The Font ! ! !
