The weather remains well behaved. Warm and dry during the day. Cold, windy and wet at night. For Sophie this means a world of sunshine and freshly filled puddles. On our tour of the village we meet the retired doctor. He is arranging the village Coronation festivities. A dinner is planned the night before the big day. 'You'll be there ?' he asks in that Scottish way that suggests this isn't so much a question as a command.
This morning, after a walk along the beach, we go to the Jaffa Cake Cafe and share a bacon roll. Sophie gives the bacon roll a score of 12/10 . It would have been more but her companion ate most of it. This morning all the tables have tulips on them. Despite the early hour and an easterly breeze the place is full of students working intently away on their laptops. The cafe has also invested in a new dog bowl that Sophie is keen to try out.
Heading back to the car we pass the cobblers. I've never noticed the manically nodding display in the window. There is something about the hair and face that might cause impressionable toddlers life long trauma.
The Italian Cafe has ( what they call ) Prince of Cambridge Scones. Raspberry, Blueberry and White Chocolate a most unlikely ( and unappealing ) mix.
In the window of the kitchen shop a placemat showing a sheepdog with the caption ' Are Ewe the boss ? ' . This makes me smile.
So starts a breezy Easter Monday with a happy Polish Lowland Sheepdog lady. Later today the Volvo will be taken in for two new front tyres. The dealer wants to charge me £560 for doing this. The man with the garage at the 'Y' junction quotes £383. It pays to shop around.

Eighty miles up the road in Aberdeen, the Easter weather has not been anything like so well-behaved.
As for the offering at the Italian café, Gail can assure you that her Thursday morning cycling friends (WhatsApp group 'Scones r Us') would happily sample the Prince of Cambridge mix.
Nobby would of course prefer a 12/10 bacon roll.
The only acceptable reason for the difference in price that I can think of is that the greater price includes wheel balancing and alignment?? Otherwise - it's a rip off!
I thought of Sophie last night when I caught the tail end of a BBC TV programme about making Jaffa cakes! The sheer numbers were staggering, all untouched by human hand - the whole production automated and just a human overseer in sight! Indy and I would prefer a 12/10 bacon roll any day, though she would settle for a Jaffa cake - if only she could find someone to de-chocolate them, and not eat the rest too!
I love the sheep pictures, and a sheep mug would make my coffee taste even better!
The cobbler is pretty grim.
I'm constantly surprised by the students being up and about before noon, looming exams or no.
The hair is a bit strange, but then think about what was Prime Minister, President (orange.). Love the sheep, both prints are fun.

I have mugmats and fridge magnets by that EWE and Collie artist. Thomas Joseph is Irish and has been making these fun paintings for the best part of 20 years. Look up tomjoe[dot]com. YAM xx
I tweaked a recipe and made a ricotta cake with strawberry, blueberry, and white chocolate for Easter dessert. It was delicious last night and this morning my husband had a piece with his coffee. Just recently the last shoe repairman in the area closed up shop. I loved going there with the smell of leather and shoe polish, along with the quality work he did. It's one of those disappearing trades. Happy Monday to you and Sophie!
I love getting new tires. Glad you found a deal. Actually I would try one of those scones in the afternoon with coffee.
Here I am window shopping the scones try to select the one I want. They win, I would try one.
Thanks for your enthusiasm and energy in writing this blog
