Moving day. The conservatory roof is still waiting for the louvre parts from Germany but we can live with that. It's decidedly nippy this morning. Storm 'Betty' has made it north of the border and is forecast to bring with it the sort of downpour Noah would have recognized. London got two weeks worth of rain in twelve hours. We discuss whether the heating should be turned on. The decision is made to leave it off. It doesn't seem right to have the radiators on in August. We live in hope that the temperatures will rise tomorrow.
Down by the harbour there's a hearty breeze blowing . Our morning walk is conducted at a brisk pace. We don't see another soul the whole time we're out. Not even the usual cast of dog owners are to be seen. The eider ducks have made a reappearance and seem to be loving the bracing wind. They have a particular fondness for the barnacles that coat the pier .
By the slipway a 4x4 is parked. It's advertising a service that seems rather specialist but presumably necessary.
The Indian restaurant offers pre-theatre dinners. This offering might attract a crowd in London but I'm not sure the 5 pm market for pre-performance curries is going to be that large here. The Indian princess gazes back at us from behind the window. She holds a small plastic sign informing passers by that Visa, Mastercard and Amex are all accepted.
The shoe repair shop now has a line in personalized cushions. ' Timothy - you're seriously the best' seems a very muted and Presbyterian way of showing affection.

Sending best wishes for a smooth move back into the last house before Denmark. Fingers crossed that the weather cooperates...
Cheers! Gail.
Hope that the move goes well and everything will soon be in it's right place.
I wonder if Timothy's admirer forgot to pick up the cushion?
I like the expression, 'a hearty breeze' - it makes it sound friendly like a large burly chap in a pub.

I join the chorus of well-wishing for the move! YAM xx
Congrats from New Hampshire!
If I had been out of the house for months with all that work being done, I would test everything. Test the heat Angus, Diesel may have unplugged something. It'll take the chill off the house and you'll know it's ok. Love to you and The Font.
I, too, wish that the next move goes as planned!
Cheers!
JoAnn
I say, the scenery behind, THE LEADING EDGE, is quite spectacular.
Unpacking for the last time - enjoy and stay warm, some spicy curry will take the chill off.
Not sure if you watch any of the myriad of home decorating shows on TV but the final reveal is a big deal. And so we patiently await...hoping your move goes smoothly with no signs of a Diesel!
We have a hurricane predicted for Southern California tomorrow! And me, deciding to paint my house after too many years! The painters are hurriedly applying primer to the scraped and sanded wood before wind and rain hit! Mind you, we have hurricanes off the coast of Baja California every year which result in clouds and humidity, but this one is supposed to make land fall and head toward LA. We'll see, but I hope the primer covers the house today! It's half done.
Hopefully it will weaken before it gets to you! Cash. Gas in car. Batteries for flashlights. Water. Food for humans and dogs. Our turn awaits so I know know the angst.
Best wishes for an uneventful move. And the same to rottrover for storm preparation. As the wildfires continue here all power has been disconnected to Del Norte County for perhaps several days. We are in camping mode.
