Cabbages and milling students.

A trailer has arrived in the cabbage field. This is what passes for excitement out here at the 'Last Wee House before Denmark'. The arrival of the trailer would indicate that the cabbage harvest is about to begin.

Down on the beach the dog walkers are congregating for their morning walk. Two students who have been in the North Sea for a dip change out of their swim wear and ignore them.

Angus starts his day in a happy state of self satisfied grumpiness. The students have made themselves at home and 1) cluster in groups and block the pavements 2) walk around staring at their phones oblivious to the presence of others and 3) cross the road 'Kamikaze' style  without looking to see if there's any traffic coming. This mornings trip to the book store is slowed by the necessity to navigate around young people  'milling' outside the 'trendy' cafe that plays Billie Eilish and Sabrina Carpenter on a purgatorial loop. 'The Font' wonders if perhaps I'm segueing into my grandfather.

Post tournament the baker has a left over stock of cakes and biscuits targeted at a golfing audience. These have supplanted the apple pies at the centre of the window display.

The organic strawberry outlet will close this week. The weather's been mild but the strengthening wind hints that winter is on its way. It's a miracle they've managed to harvest this far into October.

Three determined and very different characters are exploring the grass out by the estuary. One ignores us, one is indifferent and one is feisty.

If Angus recognizes that the 'trendy' café is playing Billie Eilish and Sabrina Carpenter, he's not quite turned into his grandfather yet.
Although use of the word 'trendy' might I suspect date him somewhat. Or do young people still use the term?

The last photo of the 3 Westie's caught my eye - Of course I am greatly missing the indifference, feistiness and being ignored by a terrier. 💔

Oh, for one last bite of a freshly picked strawberry.

Being around the students will keep you young and swearing. Maybe more of one than the other.

There are so many topics upon which to comment: terriers, strawberries, college student “awareness” and the number of traffic deaths in Africa. I found that statistic hard to comprehend.

You have no idea what a welcome palate cleanser it is to turn away from my morning catch-up with Twitter and arrive at "A trailer has arrived in the cabbage field."

Oh those Westies! I live in an apartment building where there are many tenants who are under 35, a lot in tech industry. I can walk past them, smile and say hello and they do not acknowledge me or look my way. It’s like zombies!
