A record of those unimportant little things that are too important to be forgotten.

As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.
Eight in the morning. Our first walk of the day. At the foot of the hill Bob charges into the middle of the cold stream and has a long, noisy, drink. Sophie stands carefully on the dry ground at the streams edge and slurps. Wet paws are not her thing. When it comes to icy water brother and sister are very different characters. Or as Sophie might put it : " We're as different as beauty and the beast ". To prove her point the little 'beauty' triumphantly drags the remnants of a long dead, and now partly mummified, crow into the back of the car.

Oh Sophie, you are such a kind girl. For sure you wanted to take the mummified crow back to 'the font' as a special early Christmas gift. I hope Angus let you.
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
Oh Angus you do make me laugh at the antics of Bob and Sophie.
No need for a photo of the mummified crow, I can see it quite clearly from your description. Was it hard to take away from Sophie.....they do become fixated on such awful things, not wanting to let them go. Then to boot they want to give you copious licks/kisses with their awful smelly selves....what love.
I was going to suggest that the crow was an early Christmas present (just right for the festive meal, don't you think?!) but Bouncing Bertie beat me to it! I hope it went down a treat!
A girl and her mummified crow are hard to part !
Our courtyard backs on to the village cemetery. It's more a Hameau, rather than a village and most of the inhabitants of the cemetery are generations of the same family. One day our dog Bubble brought us in the lower part of a jaw. Minimal digging was required for said prize. Stuart was employed to return the artefact to it's home, much to the disappointment of Bubble.
Eeeshk.

If only the world really knew what French village life was like !
You describe it beautifully!
as always. my first laugh for the day! oh sophie.
these are great pictures of the puppies who seem to be growing into almost full fledged 'english' sheep dogs!!!!
they're getting so big! or maybe it's just the camera. it's puts on 10 pounds ~ or so they say.

Hopefully, the crow's foot didn't get stuck in her beard...as happened to a scottie in this house once.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella &Roxy
This is not just the morning smile, but now the daily guffaw. Sophie would have gotten on with my late, lamented Siberian husky, who once rolled in a partly decomposed woodchuck. Eeuww.
CAW!
Beauty is as beauty does, Miss Sophie. Mummified crow or not, you are a beautiful girl so much of the time!
