Off to the garden centre for a Christmas tree. We always have a Christmas tree. Usually one that's at least 12 feet tall and will barely fit through the front door. A special time of the year when Angus, armed with a large glass of Gods amber nectar, deals with face slapping branches, missing light bulbs, wobbly step ladders and falling ornaments.
The arrival of the two little angels with their boundless energy and their '' if it's within reach, chew it " attitude to life means a rethink. Glass baubles, electrical cable and enticing branches the stuff of dog owners nightmares.
By this time last year all the big trees had gone from the garden centre. This year the place is full of large trees but the small ones have all been sold. All, that is, apart from the top of a large tree that has had an accident and snapped off. We pay the large tree price ( ' do you want it monsieur or not ? ' says the less than charming check out lady when I quibble about the price ) and head home with our three and a half foot pine.
'' It looks very jolly " comments 'the font' when the tree is unveiled. Damned with faint praise ? Bob and Sophie are so far undecided as to how to respond to this new addition to the house.

I find that a small tree located ontop of a table is the best response to an enthusiastic chewer.
Good luck!
Gail.
You've listed my reasons for not having a tree when my dogs were young, but have you also considered moving the rug away from Bob's new indoor bathroom?
Wishing a Merry Christmas to you all.
We haven't had a proper tree since Roxy arrived. You forgot the christening of the tree.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
That is a very sensible christmas tree receptacle.
Merlin is an enthusiastic un-wrapper, so ours has to also be a present-free zone.
It looks very nice!

I was in the same predicament, now that I have Brownie in the house, so this year, like you, I have put up only 2/3 of my artificial tree and it is safely ensconced on a side table in the living room....will post a pic later.
He has now become accustomed to the lights rotating on the tree, thank goodness.
How awful that you had to pay full price for a damaged tree.
There is nothing funnier than watching a dog trying to open it's Christmas prezzie.
All that scrabbling with the front paws, the prezzie shooting through their front then back legs and the bemused expression on their face when they can't work out where it's gone ...priceless !
I like the small tree. Merry Christmas To All.
Our tree was purchased last Sunday and is sitting in a bucket of water in the chai. It is little. It will go up on top of tge old stone potager, table height, so that Remy the wrecker can't reach it. Good luck with Bob and Sophie and the tree baubles! Your place is just beautiful.
I think your tree is beautiful. Well done, Angus!
Are the lovely little candles made fom beeswax? Cats and dogs love to enjoy chewing it.
My tree is metal and sits on a table - up high away from the hounds. I'm waiting for Bob's decision on your lovely tree and its baubles.
The cats loved to knock off the balls and watch the dogs chase them. I replaced the glass balls with large metal bells. Your tree is beautiful.
Just a thank you to someone far away for looking after those who can't look after themselves. Have a great Christmas.
