Can a dog look happy ?
Can a dog look happy ? You tell me. Bob is waiting outside the bedroom door. His tail goes whack, whack, whack on the floor. The PON '' Is it time for a walk ? " look. Sophie tries to catch a few more moments of beauty sleep.
Bob's day gets better. After the illicit half croissant and chat with the beer and absinthe crowd at the cafe under the arcades he heads off to the fancy bakers. His sister bounces along behind. The bakers wife, who has recently had a baby, has that slightly bad tempered air of someone who's been awake all night dealing with gripe. Despite her grumpiness Bob and Sophie are given some tiny slivers of choux pastry. Bob's tail does its metronome routine.
The cheese lady has some freshly delivered Livarot . She patiently explains to me how the Normandy farmers bind the cheese with strands of marsh grass. Bobs day hit its high spot when he gets given a sliver of rind. Sophie also gets a piece and lets out a high pitched noise that says she doesn't know how else to express her joy.
Over dinner American man asks why our neighbour has an flashing star on a twenty foot pole attached to the roof of his house. '' It's a French thing " I reply .

Our household would love that cheese, more than the sweets.
I am looking at Bertie, who I suspect could give Bob a run for his money in the tail wagging department, and wondering is it a boy thing?
Cheers! Gail.
Bob looks happy to me.
Oh the cakes !
Not a boy thing Gail, my cavalier does a great smile of happiness and luckily for me has the same love of life as Bob so I get to see that Cav grin often
Cheese rind is a favourite around here. It gets the wheaten stamp of approval.
I read the title, looked to my left and there was our dog...she was definitely smiling. She probably would have an even bigger smile had she gotten treats like Bob and Sophie did.
I am treated to an ear to ear smile, a full body wag and the presentation of a ball if I have been out of the house for a while. It is the most beautiful welcome. His happiness is truly infectious.
There is no grin as wide, or as infectious, as a dog's.
Sacre bleu!
Oh well, I suppose the photo of such a happy face makes up for the fact I hardly slept, awaiting images of ancient secateurs. . .
How could I not have taken reams of photos of 19th century garden implements ?
You can borrow mine if you need some :)
Cheese looks good!
The terror..oops..terrier smiles in the morning, afternoon and evening!! We vote for sweets! I'm smiling about those pictures!
Bertie - According to this you'll soon be nationalised

YESSSSS!!! a dog can look happy....very happy....so says my Brownie.
The flashing star on a twenty foot pole at night must be prettier than other flashing signs that I have seen displayed elsewhere.
I have no idea where my first comment went to...but YESSSS, a dog can be very happy!!! The smile on Bob's face is priceless.
