Bob and Sophie sleep soundly. The results from the Scottish referendum insufficient reason to stay awake. From time to time Bob's tail goes thwack-thwack-thwack as he dreams of chasing squirrels. At 4.11 am the results from Falkirk come in. The result clear. Time to open a bottle of champagne . At the sound of the cork both PON's open their eyes, then close them again.
Life for this PON brother and sister is good. Their owner is now going to get some sleep.
Here's some apt Friday morning Bach http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzX42Z0McFU&list=RDy6gWg-VJ_Lw

Life is good here too. Phew.
Indeed. Phew
Two cheers for democracy, one cheer for the quiet majority - mais toujours ... trois hourras pour champagne!
And a thank you to Gordon Brown who brought a last minute touch of elan to the Glasgow and East Lothian Better Together campaigns. Without those kind hearted ( and at one stage deeply dispirited ) folks offering rides to the polling station for people in the old folks homes and outlying estates things might have been very different. As for the rest of the politicians , one sides venality and mendacity was matched by the other sides ineptitude .
With some anxiety, I pushed the button on my NPR station at 6:27 am and was rewarded with the 55 to 45 news. Great sigh of relief too from this Scot-o-phile! Another feeling too: envy at the percentage of voters, We call it democracy here, but a recent primary election had just 12 percent of voters. Champagne? How about some single malt? xxxx
Ah Bertie, if you only knew how seriously your terrier friends in the U.S. and the U.K. took this election and the lengths they went to yesterday to ensure the outcome that would keep you together!!!! You are loved, dear boy.
Must be my age but a glass of Laphroaig at 4.30 am doesn't cut it any longer.
We stayed up and watched closely as well (it did help we're in a different time zone) and were very relieved at the result.
But, I'm disappointed we didn't get the champagne, only a celebratory cup of tea !
What a relief!! Get some rest.
We're in awe of voter turnout.
We'd never have it no matter what we were voting on.
What a close vote, and obviously near and dear to a lot of hearts!
It aroused great passions. They may, or may not, have been put to bed by the vote.
Common sense prevailed, just slightly more than the wishful thinking of the deluded, perhaps.
Very relieved here. Now we're pensioners we didn't relish the havoc it would cause most of us for the vanity of a few.
Huge relief - the same physical sensation as waking from a nightmare. We celebrated with Swedish beer, in Sweden.
