Out early with Bob. Twice in the last month we've found that the greengrocer is out of oranges. Today, there's a fresh consignment from Australia. It's unusual to see Australian oranges in the northern hemisphere. Wherever oranges usually come from at this time of year ( South Africa ? ) must be having a problem with their harvest.
Redcurrants make an appearance. A harbinger of winter and jam making season.
Sophie is being acclimatized to the little courtyard. She hates it. An unremitting chorus of ' Why would you want to put me here ? '. She does her glum routine. The gardeners are due later today to lay the turf. Whether they'll show up is another matter. I've set up a table and chairs in a corner of the courtyard so that Sophie can remain the centre of attention.
So starts a dog centric week in deepest, deepest France profonde. A record of those 'little' things too unimportant for a diary but too important to go completely unrecorded.

So funny. Here on the Canadian west coast we often have oranges from Australia, but today they were from South Africa.
Poor Sophie. Surely deep down she knows how much she is loved.
Poor Sophie. It's going to be a long four months.
I made a comment on my blog today about SAfrican lemons and here they are popping up all over the place. Why don't those oranges come from Spain or Portugal right next door to you, and EU? Some years ago growers here were actually paid to dump their crops. It's a strange world. No wonder the economy in the Eu is in so much trouble.
Do love following your doggy doings. They certainly keep you and us entertained. Hope your Diva recovers quickly once the op is over. Your patience and loving care is exceptional.
Here in southern California, many, many orange groves have been replaces with strawberries. Apparently less labor and more money for the farmers...
Please know we are thinking of, and praying for, you all!
xo
We always have oranges from South Africa. I don't think I have seen oranges from anywhere else here in the middle of the Canadian prairies. We are keeping Sophie in our thoughts...
Oh dear, poor Sophie, she doesn't realise that you are doing your very best for her. How many dog owners would actually have a nice little lawn laid especially? Perhaps the peony border will be a better place for her if she feels secure and doesn't feel abandoned...
Hope the op. goes well. Big hugs for her, we'll be thinking about you all tomorrow.
You are all in my thoughts. Hope the surgery is successful and our diva is rewarded with lots of her favorite treats. xxxxx
Our prayers are with the little one, and all of you, as she heads for surgery tomorrow.
Seems a bit late for Australian oranges....maybe they take longer to ship. We live in an 'orange' area.
Poor Sophie....love those 'wings' on her head.
Sending positive thoughts and prayers for tomorrow.
Hope all does well. Will be interesting to see how Bob behaves. Take it day by day, it'll get better.
The saddest thing is that we cannot explain to them the reasons for things. So heartbreaking when they just don't understand. Good luck with tomorrow, little Sophie. xo
