Diligent.

Ten on a Friday morning. The ice rink doing a roaring trade . Mothers warily watching four year olds taking their first skating lessons. When the little ones fall over, as they do frequently, they laugh.

At the little antique store on the market square a collection of papier mache hat mannequins and a tall wooden angel candle holder. The owner tells me the mannequins date from 1820. He says the angel is of the same period. Hmmm.

Out with Bob for a long walk along the valley. This weather is so bizarre it borders on the alarming. Bright sunshine and a warmth you'd be hard to find in Scotland in high summer. The Calvinist in Angus whispers that it won't last and that impassable snow and freezing temperatures are on their way. Another sign I've turned into my father.

Miss Sophie remains at home waiting for the green light to start haring around the house.

Above the village The Old Farmers ( diminished ) start still shines out at night.

And here is a picture ( you may have to scroll down a little ) of 'Si' the unsung hero dog that sniffs the chamber of the House of Commons for bombs, He's  sitting on the Prime Ministers seat. How naughty :

Love the antique hat mannequins, although I think the shop owner may be a trifle optimistic in his estimate of age for the angel.
What fun to have a municipal skating rink right in the town center. And such a pretty church as backdrop to it.

Did we ever see a photo of the star in all its former glory? I don't remember.

Agree, it's great fun to have an ice rink in the middle of town !
The new star doesn't look as though it will pose quite such a threat to low flying aircraft en-route to Toulouse airport !

It's very warm. Today is sunny but yesterday it rained and smelled like spring. Odd.
I hope the new star brings comfort to the Old Farmer.

Much easier to have a warm feeling about the star with its less aggressive light. Air traffic control breathes a sigh of relief.

Though diminished, the Old Farmer’s star still provides ample light to guide the heavenly hosts.

Madam Bay may need that feathered hat for her collection!

I am fascinated at how the icerink fails to melt if the weather is so warm. Here in Vancouver we are well below zero c but rain is coming next week so the ponds will thaw out. Cheers to you and the font. Merry Christmas to all.

Mannequins are to die for but the angel? One perfectly identical in one of my low-end decorating catalogs recently. Indeed the weather is odd - freezing rain storm here in Central Oregon this week has everything covered in ice an inch thick (so many trees sadly destroyed) and this on the heels of a strange warm autumn with leaves still hanging on many trees in December! I like the star very much. Si adorable -- very happy post today, Angus. xxoo

It's the sort of hat the Mother of the Bride wore in the 60's !

Such a hat does bring to mind old pictures of Mamie Eisenhower.

Nice to live in the moment like Bob. We're sure he'll be just as happy if it does snow!

We went from -42 celcius this past weekend (with the wind chill) to a balmy -7 celcius today. The -42 was insanely bitter. Please send some of your weather our way. I am not sure why those chose the Canadian prairies so long ago to settle. They probably came in July.

All looking grand today!! Happy PON's.

We have a new 2 month old addition to our always growing canine family. He has been named Hunter :)
