The rainbow.

On the dot of six a cold wet nose in my right ear announces that it's time to wake up and get started on what is almost certainly going to be the best day ever.

We head out for a long walk down the hill. Bright skies and gentle breezes accompany us.

At the foot of the hill, by the lake, the weather suddenly changes.

In the matter of minutes the sky turns pink, then grey, then black. It pours.

The unexpected mountain storm brings a gift. An incredibly bright double rainbow. Something deep in Angus's Celtic DNA knows that this is a sign that all is well with the universe and that this is indeed the best day ever.

The PONs are unimpressed by the sight of the rainbow.

They are more interested in going to the bakers. Any doubts that this might not be the best day ever are dispelled by a shared quarter croissant and a bowl of water at the cafe. The pretty young lady behind the counter tickles Bobs ear and tells him he's handsome.

The back of the dog car is now impregnated with that unmistakable dog caught in the rain scent.

Well Bob and Sophie might not be impressed by that double rainbow, but I certainly am. The dog owner's reward for all the times when one might have prefer a few more minutes in bed (although it is our secret that the early morning outing is actually the best part of the day, which so often gifts us with unexpected delights).
Cheers, Gail.

Had heard that the colours in a double rainbow are reversed. They are indeed.

What a piece of luck, capturing that double rainbow. Worth getting drenched I'm sure.

Not just a double rainbow but COMPLETE double rainbows!
On the way to the market today, the windshield wipers were needed but so were sunglasses.

Americans obviously take this aphorism seriously ... "Life is short, start with dessert"

Given half a chance Angus would start his day with a stack of pancakes and a side of bacon. He has however reached the age where pancakes rather than firing up the system seem to induce somnulance. When last staying at the Mondrian in West Hollywood he and The Font, both suffering from that 9 hour time difference, drove to the IHOP at Venice Beach at 4 in the morning for a tall stack. It should be pointed out 'The Font' had muesli. Nothing like America.

If you come from the western isles 'drenched ' is always relative.

Who knew? I just checked my own, very similar double rainbow picture from last January, and sure enough! Reversed. You learn something new every day!

What a special gift you have given us all today. A double rainbow! I have never seen one. And to think you took it so close to your home makes it even more special. Thank you !

The rainbow is really beautiful Angus! Right now we're just looking for a light at the end of the tunnel with the Govt. shutdown.
