The Old Farmer wanders over to the gate and informs me that the Belgian Lady has been admitted to hospital. '' Bad oysters " he adds with a furrow of his brow. He thinks she'll be in for three days. '' She's got a fever and gets very tired. The doctor came, took one look at her and knew what to do ". He drives off in the venerable Mercedes to visit her.
The mayor has been busy preparing the village hall for the beautiful gardens award ceremony. He carefully places his wife's dried vegetable arrangements on a trestle table. A formal letter has arrived in our mailbox informing us that the proceedings will start fifteen minutes early to allow the phone company representative to explain the new fibre optic system. Most of the older village inhabitants don't have computers so their interest in the presentation on high speed broadband may be limited. Madame Bay by contrast is doing more and more online but through the intermediation of her long suffering daughters and grand daughters. She has discovered the wonder of having things delivered to her door.
Bob exudes quiet contentment. His sisters contentment is expressed through the medium of atonal singing. There are many people who think that dogs only bark. How wrong they are.
This all seems very kind and sensible for the 21st century. 3 & 4 are my favourites : https://twitter.com/bradleygardner/status/956862595260207104
The author links to this, which is interesting and very Stanford: http://stanfordpress.typepad.com/blog/2015/03/chinas-rise-is-over.html

Not sure about singing, but, for a basically rather placid terrier (don't tell him I said that) Bertie has an impressive range of growls.
The dogs each have several vocalisations--all have their own meanings.
Hope you got your discounted Nutella....
Ever since fiber optic cable came to the village, Internet has ground to a crawl. Neighbors wanted to download a cartoon for their kids and got a message that it would take 18 hours--for a half-hour cartoon.
Husband says it gets worse before it gets better--that it isn't all connected yet. Though workers are nowhere to be seen.
Would there tonal singing be something like a Basset Hound in Full Voice when hunting? Melodious tones
The supermarket is usually quiet on a Thursday morning. This week it was packed - packed as in last shopping night before Christmas type packed. The car park full. We couldn't understand it. There was even a long line at the self service checkouts. Only when we saw the scenes on television last night did we understand that Nutella fever had reached our neck of the woods.
We're hoping that it's got to be better than the copper cable system we have at the moment.
I typed, Have you ever heard a Frenchie (French Bulldog) yodel.. It showed up as French man yodel..

Angus, again I have enjoyed your links; 12 very wonderful steps of life; and where there is rise there will always come no-rise! YAM xx
Goldens by nature are pretty quiet dogs. So when Charlie, who is very vocal came along, it took a little getting used too. I find it quite endearing and over the years it's helped me to know how he's doing.
Bailey Bob is usually quiet, and then one day he will walk in a room, look you in the face, and dog talk. When he has finished, he continues to look at you waiting for answers.
It's called getting it off your chest.
