Foxes

Sophie has had one of those nights. She's lying on her back sound asleep when I come down the stairs. For a moment she thinks of sleeping on but the lure of a walk to the waterfall soon has her on her feet.

A trip to the poulterers for a roast chicken. Some morsels of lasagna bolognaise - the lunchtime special - proffered to the PONs. From the high pitched squeak Sophie emits we can assume this is the best day ever.

Foxes everywhere. It must be cub time. Bob is kept on his lead.

So starts another day in a very quiet village in deepest, deepest France profonde. In fact we may be the only people in the village who haven't headed off to the coast .

Certainly something has caught Bob's attention in that fine last picture. Although I suspect his hunting skills might be even more limited than those of my so-called 'fox' terrier...

I've seen only one fox in 15 years here. But I'm not out walking a dog at dawn, either.

I feel that I need to defend the reputation of Bertie here.
