Chosen few.

Another perfect morning. The skies cloudless and improbably blue for January. Along the lane the trees are covered in a thick coat of cherry blossom like frost for a second day in a row.

The local courier driver arrives at the gate as we return home. He used to work in the news agents but since the start of the pandemic he's been busy delivering packages. He tells me he works five days a week and makes twice as much money as he did selling papers. ' I decide when I want to work ' he adds. For a chosen few of his customers there are deliveries on a Sunday morning - if they're on his route to the bakery.

In The Rickety Old Farmhouse garden Sophie turns on her back and has a good old scratch on the icy grass.

So starts a peaceful Sunday morning.

The frosted trees against the clear blue sky. 'Perfect' and then some! Thanks for providing such a glorious start to the day.

Nice to learn you and "The Font" are amongst the chosen few who get Sunday courier deliveries!

What a beautiful morning , it's gloomy here but that hasn't stopped the hunters , we just have to wait for the list dig to turn up now .

Glorious frosty days. Couriers/drivers are the new growth industry here too. When my daughter moved to London before the pandemic she hired space in a "man with a van" service to transport her 10 boxes of possessions door to door from Edinburgh. Doing the same in reverse this past October, the cost had increased from £150 to £800 for exactly the same thing. As a thrifty Scot she hired a van and moved her stuff herself for a fraction of the cost.

Very lovely skies and frost. Here is SE USA, we awoke to 4 inches of still-falling snow. Of all our dogs (who are Canadian by birth), only the 12-year-old cardi would go outside. A far cry from the first time our then-dogs (from California) saw snow in New Hampshire, and caught it on their tongues and played in it.

A good way to start the day! We are waiting to see if the weathermen are right about an upcoming snow-storm.

We know all about snow storms on I-95. One of the CC's was stuck and had to be retrieved by State troopers a couple of weeks ago. Was no one expecting it ?

An extra note today. To add to your maybe one day travel list have you and the Font considered going on the Orient Express La Dolce Vita train? I just read that they have a new Italian service starting 2023 with retro 1960’s and 70’s carriages. See the video in the link below. Alternatively, their “lounge trunk” (on sale online for 115,000 Euros) could be useful in your lounge at the ROF! https://www.orient-express.com/high-life/a-grand-return-to-italy-with-la-dolce-vita-train/
