Creativity.

Beef Wellington for dinner. This doesn't denote a deep seated enthusiasm for Beef Wellington. It  is  time consuming and fiddly to prepare and, at a certain age, somewhat difficult to digest. We think that the last time either of us had Beef Wellington was fifteen years ago.  'The Fonts' proportions are generous - the recipe from pre-empty nest days. There is enough left over for three more nights ... at least. This may permanently sate our enthusiasm for Beef Wellington.

Sophie decides that there is nothing, BUT NOTHING !!! , that compares to a sliver of pastry from a Beef Wellington. In PON heaven it would be served three times a day, every day, with double portions on days of the week ending in a 'y'.  The gravy has a little Port in it.  As it's her ninth birthday she gets a miniscule dribble on her kibbles. This  receives a 20/10 and gives her tail a joy overload.

Fast forward to Wednesday morning. The family diva returns from her morning walk looking like nothing on earth.  No prizes for guessing that Sophie has been charging through the laurel hedge in pursuit of a C-A-T. This is not a look you would see at the Westminster Dog Show.  It may be worthwhile grooming urban PONs but rural ones ? Forget it.

A birthday, Beef Wellington crust and C-A-T-S to chase. Isn't life wonderful ?

Bertie is deeply envious of Sophie's Beef Wellington experience. It's a dish he has, much to his regret, never had the chance to sample. Both Gail and Bertie wish the family diva a belated happy birthday!
It took me a while to work out what a yuyu actually is. Just a rebranded trendy hot water?

Happy Birthday, Sophie! I remember Angus telling me that nine is a wonderful age for a PON on the occasion of Cherry's 9th birthday, and you were quite right! Wishing Sophie a great year as well. Meanwhile, I am off to purchase a Yuyu bottle - this is one of those "now, why didn't I think of that?" innovations.

Belated Happy Birthday, Sophie! What a fabulous birthday feast - and a really best day ever. Inca too, is envious of those tastings of Beef Wellington pastry. With just one to cook for, these days it's not likely to be on the menu here, although occasional slivers of pastry do pass her lips from time to time.
Now we're going to read about a yuyu bottle, and decide if we need one!

Ah, Johnstons of Elgin. Ten miles up the road from me, an excellent café and a huge wicker hamper of seconds of cashmere scarves which I pillage annually. A great annual on-site sale as well - cue all the shiny 4x4s in the north east of Scotland and beyond.

Yes, I was thinking that an ordinary hot water bottle and a thrift store cashmere sweater (or scarf, as Linda reminded me) would do the trick. After a quick look at the yuyus, I did come to Gail's conclusion....Happy 9th to a Lady just edging into her older years, as we say in our pack.

Okay, so I need to get my crochet hook working on hottle-bottle covers and touting them as artisan pieces in the hope of making some dosh... (though I was thrilled to see those are made in Hawick!) Happy 9th, Sophie, may each year from here be filled with curly croisant ends galore and maybe even some Wellington pastry and more!!! YAM xx

A wild and free look is perfect for the birthday girl. Perhaps another sliver of Beef Wellington pastry today? It does end in "y." Happy Birthday, sweet Sophie!

The beef sounds wonderful. And she is such a pretty girl, with hair au-natural. Never looked better. Interesting tipping article, and hot water bottle link is going a friend who knits.

Sophie looks like she has just had a tumble in the dryer and came out wet still and a little drunken.
