Life awaits

'Parents' now much in evidence. Half a dozen mothers and daughters shopping for 'essentials' in the hardware store. Fathers standing by large shiny cars trying, unsuccessfully, to work the parking app. Younger siblings looking bored in that way only younger siblings can. At family dinner tables in restaurants across town many of the starting students have that slightly impatient 'Thank you for driving me up but don't let me keep you ' air . Life awaits.

The supermarket strawberries now come from England but the strawberry stand by the roundabout is still doing a roaring trade. The owner has polytunnels that face south. He thinks he'll get another two or three weeks crop out of them. We have the heating on in the breakfast room this morning a sure sign that autumn is upon us. It's 5 degrees.

The art gallery has a new dog sculpture. Meanwhile, the church is waiting for the arrival of a group of American Presbyterian bell ringers. Life in town is gearing up again.

The whisky shop has an unusual contraption in the window. This is the sort of thing that appeals to tourists wanting a memory of Scotland. Any self respecting Scot would simply open a bottle and pour a shot.

Last nights sunset makes up for the recent fog and rain.

Nobby is impressed by Dylan's beard. Gail is impressed by Google Earth satellite imagery.

How on earth will tourists flying home manage to cart that whisky contraption home - not the sort of thing to put in the suitcase! Must be aimed at those coming by car.
I like Dylan.

Having students around keeps the city young.

I love the "Rauhhaardackel"/Dachshund-sculputure! It has an mischievious air about it, which is so typicial of the breed.
I would buy it at once, if it doesn't cost a fortune.

I like the dachshund sculpture.

I do believe one might purchase a real "Dylan" for that price! But, then again, this one requires little, if any, "maintenance."

Students at our local university have been in school for a couple weeks now. The area around the university is once again busy and vibrant and finding a parking spot isn't as easy as it was this summer.

"Alarming geology" is putting it mildly. I do wish we had your strawberries.
