It's grey and wet when we make it down to the market. More like mist than drizzle but definitely not sitting outside weather. '' You've brought the Scottish rain back with you " says the greengrocers wife. The cheese lady and the fish lady say exactly the same thing. Angus resists pointing out that this would be considered a perfect summers day in many parts of his homeland. Bob and Sophie each get a piece of carrot at the greengrocers and a small lump of St.Nectaire at the cheese shop. They don't get given anything at the fishmongers but they still enjoy the visit.
For the angelic duo an afternoon spent redesigning the garden. This involves lots of enthusiastic digging. Both of the PON's are in a particularly affectionate mood. Why is it dogs want to kiss you when they're filthy ? They become less affectionate and try to become invisible when they realize a bath is on the cards.
In Scotland, not so long ago, this used to be the most popular tune for the first wedding waltz :
Now it's this :

The pictures made me wonder how many Euros is a bottle of dog shampoo?
The newly preferred Scottish wedding waltz choice would surely make Alex Salmond happy.
Cheers, Gail.
Has, surely, to be the Rabbie Burns first. "And I shall love thee still my dear till all the seas gang dry ".
I'm guessing you agree
Greetings from a wet Dunoon.

Great photos!
Seems rather a dramatic statement, but, these are moments that I live for. Being introduced to new musicians / music that I haven't heard of before and being immediately captivated. I loved Caledonia and Dougie MacLeans performance. Thank you.
The rascals look very pleased with themselves!

So much mud !
I'll never complain when my little spaniel gets muddy paws again
How long does it take a PON to dry after a bath ?
About an hour asleep on the table in the garden in the sun.
Rain = Mud......bliss.
XXXOOO Bella & Roxy
On a wet, very rainy and dreary morning in Virginia, both videos are perfect. And you are right, there is nothing more affectionate than muddy dogs, and I will add that the same is true for wet ones, and today I have a house full of them.
They truly are FILTHY PONs!! Huge grin!
They must have lovely skin after all those mud masks they wear! The garden must look spectacular now that they've been working on it!
We have a garden of gaps. A gap where a rose used to be, a gap where a box hedge used to run, a gap ......
Priceless photos.
And lovely Robert Burns.
The connection between mud and rose part of the PON poetic interpretation of life.
Reminds me of the signs seen years ago at the London Underground...mind the gaps!
The Pons look especially adorable on the table, mud and all.
OH !!! LOLOLOL.
they look so pleased with themselves! i just love it. and i also love the smell of 'wet dog.' yes. odd. but true.
kiss those muddy noses for me ongoose.
Wedding? I've always wanted Caledonia at my funeral.
"But I'm steady thinking, my way is clear
And I know what I will do tomorrow
When hands have shaken, the kisses float
Then I will disappear..."
By the way... I was fortunate to hear this live a few weeks ago. Amazing.

The mud made my heart stop. xo
At weddings they presumably just focus on the 'Let me tell you that I love you and think about you all the time ' line. Having said that can anything compare with the grandeur of Rabbie Burns and ' I will love thee still my dear til all the sea gang dry ? ' Caldeonia is very popular with the Yes to Independence crowd although I've heard it sung in Dublin as if Caledonia refers to Ireland !
It is said that the song I sent you is a Scottish wedding song, but having been spectacularly unsuccessful in my attempt to learn Gaelic, I have no idea if that's accurate. As for the independence, I rather regret scheduling our next visit the day after the vote, though it could make for some lively conversations in taxis, no matter which way it goes.
Bob and Sophie look quite pleased with themselves. Nothing like a happy PON.
No pictures of the PONS (and the tub) after the bath? Was there anything left of them?
Like Kim, this NC household had a wet dog this morning after thunder/lightening woke the household around 5am. What a pleasant way to start the day...NOT !!
Oh my gosh golly, those two are still so freaking adorable even all muddy.
