An age of miracles.

The weather is behaving itself. Hot and dry during the day. A mountain  storm to douse the garden late at night. On the lawn this morning a tiny birds nest blown down in the nightly gale. On closer examination it's proven to be made out of finely woven PON hair .

A mystery. On a street light outside The Rickety Old Farmhouse a strangely official sign has appeared. It points along the lane to 'Site 1'. The mayor knows nothing about it nor the Old Farmer. It appears to be the only one.

The builders van passes us on our morning walk. They stop to say they'll be starting work on the tiling tomorrow. This is indeed an age of miracles.

Such a precious bird's nest! Do you have any idea what species of bird might be responsible?

We thought the PONs might be noted on Pilgrims' maps....Site 1.

Love the bird's nest. Probably needs some mud to anchor it to a tree though.

It's to be hoped it's not pointing the way to a Traveller's site. Bob will have plenty to bark at if it is, and it will be something of a diversion for Sophie from the tiler's sandwiches....

Has the notice blown round the post in the storm? Should it be pointing the other way to the German billionaire's never-ending garage? Love the nest - it's beautiful.

I bet that's a very warm snuggly birdie nest!

Adorable little nest. One can have animal hair spun into yarn for knitting. Some nice PON hair mittens may just be the thing for a cold day.
Any word on the very old farmer?

SITE 1 seems to imply there will be a SITE 2.

Must be the wrens in the wisteria above the front door. The swallows are under the eaves and the sparrows are in them. It's certainly not the pigeons who have decamped this year fom the loft to the barn.

Site 1 on the pilgrims map. The place to catch the PON chorus.

That's Anglo-Saxon logic and may not apply here in deepest France profonde.

He's now bedridden. The nurses come at 8, noon and then seven to see him.

The nest is absolutely beautiful. I hope you keep it.

No word abut the beer and absinthe crowd? Prayers for the very old farmer!

Back in the day when I was doing such things, I carded and spun some dog hair with sheep's wool for a co-worker who had brought me combings from his beloved Samoyed. Though I washed the skein many times, it always smelled like wet and stinky dog and unless you really LOVE that parfum it would not be pleasant to wear. It was fun to do, though.

The little baby birds would be nice and snug in the bed made from PON hair.
Sorry to hear about the very old farmer. And what news of the old farmer - is he off on his travels yet, or still waiting for his visa?

That perfect nest makes me happy.

So sorry to hear about the Very Old Farmer...perhaps a visit from Bob and Sophie every now and again will bring him some joy.
Hope the birds in my garden don't get any ideas from that cute little dog hair nest...they have a good time destroying my mop head as is.

Site 1... Our guess is that someone is selling a building site near the ROF. Is the Very Old Farmer's family selling part of his property or is there another agency offering land for sale? Bob and Sophie could have new neighbors soon!

Excellent nest-building material!
