All through the night.

Service at the bar very slow this morning. There is a wine delivery. The young waitress is very taken with the spiky haired delivery man. The delivery man is equally ( if not more so ) taken with the young waitress. After several attempts at ordering Angus and the two PONs finally leave without their coffee or bowl of water. The delivery driver and the waitress are deep in conversation as we leave. There is little sign that the crates of wine are about to be unloaded.

The PONs deal with their disappointment by chasing round the garden. Six cormorants land on the oak tree by the barn. They dry their wings in the morning sun. Sophie is furious. The cormorants are not bothered.

The odd job mans wife has been cleaning the church. As part of her routine she's dusted the electronic control panel for the bells. It seems she doesn't have a light touch. Buttons have been pressed that shouldn't be touched and the bells have some sort of campanological breakdown. First one bell chimes, ten minutes later a second, then shortly after wards they all bong away in some sort of manic medley. A long period of silence ensues then they repeat themselves. The mayor and the odd job man are in the church all afternoon. The bells maintain their random hyperactivity through the night. Sophie barks - once - each time they clunk. The mayor promises that a man from Toulouse will be here this morning to fix them.

We go to the bakers in the neighbouring market town. The PONs are given some baguette to chew on.

Agreed Gail and Bertie. Might I ask what lovely pastries you selected this morning from that rather inviting offering.

Oh dear, and I was thinking what a lack-lustre selection of pastries they were.
The video won't play at the moment, it keeps freezing, so I shall have to watch it later.

Lovely pictures of Sophie's dirt-encrusted nose and the village green; I'm imagining the church bells merrily pealing.

Yumm I feel fatter just looking at those cakes. Kisses to the pons - please ruffle their heads for me.

The little village is right out of some madcap French comedy.
Perhaps the cleaning lady was getting revenge on someone who kept her awake?

Cormorants? Is there water near by?

Two of Frances biggest rivers merge about ten minutes down the road.

There is a certain country charm about little villages where the majority of the population are yet to buy a computer.

Wonderful music. Brought back wonderful memories of parents singing this tune. Thank you.
