Three families of wrens are nesting in the box tree. They flutter in and out all day. Small but fast as an arrow. Sophie views their cheerful presence as an affront to her role as guardian of the house.
She can sit for hours and glare at them. When I say hours I mean hours. Boredom nor fatigue will distract her.
Bob doesn't think there's anything unusual in this behaviour. ' It's what sisters do '.
Interesting discovery of the day : This is why there are blue lights at the ends of Japanese station platforms : https://www.citylab.com/transportation/2018/05/the-amazing-psychology-of-japanese-train-stations/560822/?platform=hootsuite?utm_source=twb

Interesting - and there was me thinking blue light was to be avoided if one was to sleep well... YAM xx
Wrens are favorites of mine. With their quick movements and upright tails, they always seem so cheerful. I recently read that the males build several nests and then take the female on a nest tour so she can select the one in which she wants to lay her eggs. One male was actually observed building seven nests. Sometimes wives are hard to please. Interesting that you have three couples in one shrub.
The box with its defensive lattice of high branches and dense foliage is about a safe a stronghold as you can get. Guess three wren females understood the benefits of the site ! It's certainly PON proof
Might Sophie's expression be one of awe and rapture as she watches the wrens?
After an absence of a couple of weeks, it's quite cheering to catch up with all at the ROF.
Never a dull moment!
The wren residence looks like a bay tree to me. Having nesting wrens is nice.
