Shooed out.

Sunrise. The ladies of the Beautiful Bye ways Committee are at the Salle des Fetes at first light. Hectic preparations are underway for this weekends village fete. Coloured paper streamers are being strung from the rafters. Trestle tables are being brought out from the storeroom. A couple of 30 something farmers are standing by the bar chatting and watching rugby replays on the wide screen television. Their wives ignore them and they their wives. Toddlers wander backwards and forwards. Early day mayhem. The PONs head to the communal kitchen ( and the smell of Madame Bays duck sausages ) and are shooed out by the matron of the Old Folks home.

At the supermarket the Sushi counter has a Halloween special. That's quite a cultural mix.

Last years Christmas trees are still on sale. Will they be replaced before this years festivities or do they have a multi-year shelf life ? French retailing is a world of its own.

This is unusual . Some of the comments were spot on : https://twitter.com/HelenYoung16/status/1182275038134915072

Surely the sushi counter should be having a Rugby World Cup specia? All eyes are on the weather in Japan this weekend...
Gail has successfully persuaded her German friends here in Bavaria to take an interest in the rugby, a game in which England have won more world cups than Germany. And yes I'm afraid we did discuss the validity of England's third goal in 1966 in tbr pub last night....
Cheers, Gail.

People complain about negativity on Twitter, but you just have to find the right threads! I have to confess I have never seen Halloween sushi in Tokyo. Halloween itself is pretty popular - this is, after all, the birthplace of cos-play.

As to rugby, I read that the Scots have complained about the possibility of Sunday's match being cancelled. That would result in Japan advancing but not Scotland, which might be kind of embarrassing for the host country. I am guessing they will go ahead unless Yokohama Stadium actually blows away on Saturday night. The tracking map currently has the typhoon going straight through Yokohama, and while typhoons never seem to go where they are expected to go, this one has been quite resolute so far.

Guess the thinking is that if Italy and England have had their matches cancelled the same should hold true for Scotland.

the thing is that the participatin agreement apparently states clearly that in such event, cancellation of matches will occur and draws declared (with allocation of 2 points to each team). While it may not matter much for the England team who have already secured their semis placing, for the Italy v NZ and Scotland v Japan fixtures, the outcomes are crucial on all counts and it does, therefore, seem churlish not to reschedule them. Hey ho... let's all just hope it is a "storm in a teacup"... yeeccch... okay. I'll go away. YAM xx

The games will probably be rescheduled....bad luck to the spectators who are time-poor. Loved the comments re protester on plane.
