Hard work.

At a trendy restaurant in London Angus is served an amuse bouche. It appears to be a plate of dried rice.  Angus rearranges the rice to see if there is anything underneath that's edible. There isn't. How peculiar. Perhaps dried rice has become a thing ?

Here in France the morning croissant lives up to expectations. Both dog and master enjoy it. Sophie is more vocal in displaying her enthusiasm.

A day for long walks in the balmy sunshine.

The Old Farmer wanders over to the gate to tell me that it was warm like this in 1947 and 1956. Both years turned into real summer scorchers. He adds that the winter of 1943 was bitterly cold and the summer very wet.

It's eighteen months since our old neighbour started spending two nights a week visiting his new lady friend. This stretched into four or five nights away. Now he returns to his house every fortnight or so to make sure the heating's still working. He gently inquires whether I might be interested in buying ' an additional property '.

After a trip to the cafe, a shared croissant and a conversation with The Old Farmer, Sophie is exhausted. She falls into a deep sleep by the front door. Recharging your batteries can be such hard work.

We hear this Schubert  being played last night : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JpXlliAn2I

My niece is the editor/photographer of a trendy food magazine based in London, and your amuse bouche reminds of things I've seen there - very monotonic.

I'm wondering is Sophie back to 'normal' levels of sleeping (and drinking) or still a cause for concern?
The Schubert - beautiful. Thanks.

One thinks that they do not understand the meaning of amuse bouche at all.

Good on the old farmer. Sounds like he must be happy with his lady friend. You could buy his house as a B&B for us all to come and visit.

...apart from forking it around, did Angus place some between his teeth? It may have been a variant on an Indian snack called 'bhelpuri' - the bhel part being the puffed, toasted rice... and very tasty! YAM xx

After a few days of being off colour the family diva is back to her feisty self.

So glad to hear that Sophie is feisty once again. Thank you for the Schubert; this has long been one of my favorites of his compositions.
