Curfew.

Off to the pharmacy with 'The Font' for our annual flu jabs.  Sophie considers all outings, even those for flu jabs, to be great adventures.  Overnight a shocking 42,000 cases reported in France. As of Saturday we will be under curfew - residents need  to be in by nine at night and can't go out before six in the morning. For the villagers this will not prove to be a hardship....or a change to their routines.

The pharmacy has introduced a strict one way 'Covid'  system. Customers enter through the side door , wash their hands in gel,  then walk past the reclinable chairs and detour round the vitamin counter before arriving at the cash desk and the vaccination room. There is no one else in the pharmacy at this time of the morning so this triumph of organization is somewhat lost on us. While preparing the needle  the masked pharmacist engages Angus in polite conversation. He breeds ferrets and went to Dumfries in Scotland to visit his pen pal on his thirteenth birthday.  Angus can only assume that this conversation is straight out of the French medical textbook on ' making the patient feel relaxed by engaging in uplifting conversation' .  'Do you want the injection in your left or your right shoulder ?' I'm asked. Angus opts for the right.

Sophie gets a trip to the drive thru bakers. After the trip to the ferret breeding pharmacist we're running later than usual . We find a bean tree to park by and enjoy our croissant together. Angus sits on the tailgate, his furry companion under it. We discuss the debate, how Kristen Welker did as moderator and watch the staff arriving at the electronics store.

In the greengrocers some Costa Rican 'Eddos'. Angus rather likes going to the greengrocers. Every day there is some new and exotically sourced product. Local shoppers are left to ponder what Costa Ricans make with 'Eddos'.

Well how interesting about the pharmacist and his ferrets! Bertie thinks are very cute and remembers how he once sat opposite one on a crowded train from Utrecht to Amsterdam. (The ferret was in a cage on his owner's lap). Perhaps Angus would like an addition to the ROF household?
As for the music video, Gail didn't get further than the singer stroking the parrot...

For the first time, we have had to make a rendez-vous at the pharmacie for our flu shots. Can't get in until mid-november ! We are very lucky to be in a relatively safe area in the southwest so no curfew. Sophie must be feeling that she is getting special treatment with all the extra walks - and well deserved too.

The eddoe is just a small taro... they are a tasty alternative to standard potatoes, sweet potatoes and yams and can be prepared and eaten in much the same way. That is to say, boil and mash with lots of butter and seasoning, or fry them or bake them... go on, give them a go! YAM xx

Have never heard of a taro, or eddoe before and at first I thought they were just a slightly less gnarled celariac! If they ever make it this far south, I'll give one a try!
Interesting that your Pharmacie (Farmacia here) gives you your flu jabs. They are given at our local Health centre at an appointed time and wait in line, though I hope there is some nod to at least 2m distancing this year. Not that I go for a jab!

I fear Sophie and ferrets would not be a peaceful combination.

There can be no doubting that Sophie is enjoying being the centre of lockdown attention 24/7.

W feel lucky that we got the vaccine. There are rumours that it's running out in the big cities as folks try to insure themselves against the flu season.

I'm guessing not the sort of thing you'd find on Mull in October.

I detest Ferrets. There I said it. Just no way would there ever be one in our home.

Flue shot was yesterday at work. It feels like a rock in my arm.

...or even Dunoon (I am back at the Hutch for a couple weeks respite)... and indeed, only this month for the first time we have the COOP providing an online shopping and delivery service. How new-fangled is that??!!! I will be getting my very first delivery very soon - but was greatly restricted in choice of fruit and veg. Bananas, nectarines and 'mange tout' will have to do!!! Yxx
