Decorum shredded.

The day starts bright and sunny and windy.  Sophie stands on top of the ridge and looks out across the valley at the rising sun. This is her home and she knows she's going to have a whale of a day.

There is a walk out to the storm drain and back. Then the magic word ' croissant ' is uttered and all pretence at decorum is dispensed with. There is an excited howling. The car is circled three times and then we're off . Can a day get any better ?

An entirely gratuitous start to the morning with a puppy : https://twitter.com/PopularPuppies/status/1313028821893877762

Intriguing - there seems to be a correlation with voting patterns :https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/j5dkil/percent_of_guns_owners_in_america/

I like the "Mistress of All She Surveys" shot at the top today. With Cherry, the magic word is, weirdly, "medicine." She takes a lot of pills and she'll come running to take them so long as they are wrapped in cream cheese, peanut butter, banana, etc.(another diet problem?) I found the gun ownership chart quite fascinating. Back before the pandemic, when we used to be able to chat with taxi drivers, the question I received most frequently was, hands down, "Is it true that everyone in America has a gun?"

Thinly cut smoked salmon also works when wrapping PONette medicines. I'm surprised Nebraska seems so low.

I love the top photo of Sophie in the golden glow of morning. In the second photo the clouds appear to have formed an improbable halo over the family Diva's head.

A halo over Sophie would, as you say, be improbable.

The Brookings course looks interesting. Homi Kharas of Brookings has done some excellent work on the middle class.
I am surprised about Nebraska in the gun map. I know of numerous personal arsenals there.
What does "The Font" have to say about the Nobel Prize for physics?

I'll wager you are fielding lots of calls from the 'suits' this morning. The introduction to the Brookings course sums it up pretty well...what the hell is going on. Now we apparently have a president high on steroids.

The calls started last night but have calmed down today. Neither Pelosi nor McConnell can really face going into 11/3 with no checks or help for the airlines ( who have a huge lobbying side on K Street.

With trips to restaurants and museums once again on hold , on line entertainment a la Brookings is much appreciated.
