Life in the village is like walking on eggshells. Half of the inhabitants are supporters of the Anger Management Man (AMM). Half are supporters of the German Billionaires Builder (GBB). The constant delays in scheduling court time during the pandemic have dragged the proceedings out over two years and have enabled resentments to 'simmer'. We try to maintain a relaxed relationship with both the AMM and the GBB camps. This is not nearly as easy as it sounds although being foreign helps. No one seems to have given any thought to what happens after the ruling is handed down. Will it be contested ? Will both parties settle down into a grudging neutrality ? Will there be a grand reconciliation ? Logic dictates that one or other should move but logic and village life don't always go together.

Sophie, you are so right - nothing like a croissant straight from the oven, but they are very difficult to find here. They've usually been whizzed round in the microwave to heat them up and have the consistency of rubber.
Those flite boards may look cool, but I'd be concerned that the part (rudder?) under water looks lethal, and poses a threat to marine life. No idea why, but somehow they remind me of sharks gliding through the water.
Years ago we went to a 25th Wedding Anniversary celebration, for Norwegian friends. They had a replica of their wedding cake - six cakes stacked on top of one another, decorated with marzipan flowers. Very pretty and delicious, and a serious threat to the waistline. Very similar to the one 'The Font' will be making.
A sobering thought that 90% of the world still remains unvaccinated, how can this be so, in these enlightened times?

HADPDCDSC or HPCC (l'Homme Avec des Problèmes de Controle de Sa Colère) or maybe HHF (l'Homme Habituellement Faché), and ADMA/AMA (l'Artisan du Milliardaire Allemagne)? Gets complicated.
Have you seen the much-mocked video of Mark Zuckerberg on a filite board? Jet skis are enough of a nuisance/menace. Actually, Mark Zuckerberg is one of the world's greatest menaces.
Marzipan makes me think of my German grandmother, who adored it. I never liked all those little flowers and what-nots they make out of it, but the cake looks lovely. I suppose the regulators have a hard time getting creative when people are having a hard time dealing with even the standard vaccine. My husband arranged access to vaccinations for everyone at his research organization, but a shockingly large percentage of these highly educated and supposedly well-informed individuals opted to sit it out because they are anxious about the side effects. (Since moving to Japan, I've contracted both mumps and whooping cough because people don't vaccinate their kids.) It makes me angry, and it's really a shame when other parts of the world are still waiting for the vaccine. At least Japan is shipping all of the Astra Zeneca vaccine it purchased (which they are really afraid of) to some of the other Asian countries that need it.
Sophie looks beautuful and very symmetrical. Sounds like it's time for the Old Farmer to hand in his car keys. Perhaps his lady friend can convince him to do so.
It's a tragedy that the vaccines (in whatever effective form) are not widely available and that more of those to whom they are available do not get vaccinated. Creative problem solving (other than by researchers) seems almost nonexistent (even taking account regulatory issues). Wow, that cake. If I got that far, I might be tempted to omit the flowers and make a trip to the garden, instead. I remember, as a young person in France, that 30 years after the end of WWII, there were almost fist fights at parties when discussing the Free French government and Vichy.
