The 'boss'.

Up early to talk to men in dark suits. Seems bars and restaurants were humming in  the US for July 4th - fear of the Delta variant having apparently evaporated . The men in dark suits think this optimism may be an American thing with the stimulus package moving the economy along . Today will be the Manhattanites first day back in the office en masse. The Chairman has ruled that anyone not fully vaccinated will either need to get vaccinated quickly or look elsewhere for employment. Interestingly, in future four of the five Manhattanites, the Chairman included,  plan to work from home on Thursdays and Fridays. They say they can get more done that way.

More rain and thunder overnight. This in no way deters Sophie who is up at 5:58 and ready to get her day started. This morning is a 'stop and have a long drink at every puddle' morning.

We stop so that some ducks and geese can be barked at. Satisfied that the ducks and geese understand that Sophie is boss, we proceed onwards.

A Scottish artist I'd never heard of.  Are the auctioneers estimated prices  low because no one can go to the showrooms because of the pandemic ? :https://www.lyonandturnbull.com/auction/lot/lot-41---william-crosbie-rsa-scottish-1915-1999/?lot=236405&so=0&st=&sto=0&au=9214&ef=&et=&ic=False&sd=0&pp=96&pn=1&g=1

Things you never knew. Seems 4 million ears have to be syringed every year in the UK - the most common therapeutic procedure on the NHS : https://pmj.bmj.com/content/97/1149/475.full

Working from home a day or two per week would be good for everybody. Companies could reduce office space. Workers could do laundry at the same time as work, thereby reducing stress during their free time. Less pollution from commutes. And as for the businesses that serve office workers, they probably will be OK because if you're working at home two days a week you're going to really want to go out to lunch the three days that you're in the office--not pack a lunch from home.
I'm changing my eyeglasses and for my computer glasses I now need something presentable--not just the cheapest frames that feel OK--because nobody takes phone calls any more. Everything is video. I have a good backdrop and make an effort to put on a shirt with a collar, but my glasses worn halfway down my nose (where the focus is best) no longer cut it.

Bertie is pleased that Sophie is maintaining her position in the hierarchy of the animal world. Gail wonders how much office space will be saved if all the three day a weekers chose to come into the office on the same days, as seems likely.

Taste of France is right - no one does phone calls any more, everything is video, even though sometimes an ordinary phone call would work better Charlie got a hold of my glasses a couple of months ago and chewed through one earpiece, which is now held together with tape - not a good Zoom look, so I am off to the opticians now that I am fully vaccinated. My daughter is getting her first shot today, through my husband's employer. She's the last one in line in our family, and I am glad she had this option, as Japan is starting to run out of vaccine again - with cases going up and the Olympics three weeks away. Pretty sure at this point they will decide "no spectators" and I won't be able to use the tickets I was so happy to win two years ago. Sophie really does look extremely happy these days!

Good for Sophie - you show 'em girl - sassy ducks and geese are almost as bad as pesky C-A-T-S!
The only dog we've had who was indisputably boss was our first female Lab, Peppa. She really knew how to keep us all in line - not only my husband, me and our two other Labs, but visitors too! She did it with such charm that no-one really minded being put in their place.
Looking at the photos of jubilant football fans after England's win last week, I noticed that no-one was wearing a mask. No wonder the virus is on the rampage again. When will they ever learn?

Re William Crosbie - that estimate may be a little under - but his works do have a wide range of pricing starting as low as 750 and up to nearer the 4k mark... prices met not so much to do with whether oils or waters or etchings, but more to do with subject matter, I think. YAM xx

I am intrigued by your last photo. Especially the curls and waves of Sophie’s coat!

Angus, the recent photos taken (I assume) with your new camera are superb! I thoroughly enjoyed following Sophie's seaside adventures.
