The potential purchaser of The Rickety Old Farmhouse will be coming to see the house . If he and his entourage ( still ) like it we shall sign the formal transfer on Friday. We'll move out later in the month. Things can move remarkably quickly in France when you have a purchaser who is 'well connected'. Things that would take us weeks get done in a day. He will fly on the first flight from Orly, arrive at the house at ten and depart back to Orly at noon.

I am wondering just how much time the couturier has spent at the ROF prior to his decision to purchase?
It's a long time since I heard Peter and Gordon!
He has spent a grand total of 45 minutes at The Rickety Old Farmhouse less ten minutes chasing the dachshunds round the garden. When asked why he was so relaxed he replied ' I knew immediately I saw the outside it was a happy house '.
Can't help but wonder how much time/attention he will devote to your happy house. Of course it's a happy house with its kind humans and furry companions.
Will Sophie get to meet the potential new owner of the ROFH (with or without dashaunds) tomorrow?
That doesn't leave much time for an energy restoring glass of champagne.
I remember reading that a potential buyer knows within a minute whether he/she wants a particular house. I have wondered if there is an element of truth in it, although I can't corroborate this idea from personal experience. Moreover, I imagine that with a net worth of $300 million, this buyer cam afford to make a "mistake."
I knew within five minutes of walking into my tiny condo, that it was the one I wanted to live in. It needed a lot of work, but the space clicked, I liked the location in the building, it felt comfortable and secure.
You really can't have a better recommendation than a happy house. I hope that you can say the same about your new home.

Something similar happened to us at our last house. We had a realtor send us a letter that some buyers were interested. The wife came to see the house while she had her husband on Facetime. We had an offer one day later. Thirty days after we were toasting champagne after the final papers were signed. We went from a huge house on 6 acres to a small cottage. Best wishes to you as you downsize and start your next adventure.
I might be persuaded to sell my own RO farmhouse if the right offer appeared- not that I want to go but would be great not to have to ‘prepare it for the market” … so well done for making the move when serendipity arrived. I hope a generous donation is made if minds are changed! Progress seems amazingly fast. Wonderful you got to be chief church opener- such trust. You will all be missed.
