Every saint has a past, every sinner a future.

The farmers work past midnight ploughing the fields. This morning the freshly tilled  countryside ready for the sewing of winter wheat.  How quickly the year flies by !

The clocks go back today. By seven the sun is up for our morning walk. Bob and Sophie follow the lane that runs across the top of the ridge. Bob puts his head down in the grass, takes a deep breath and barrels off. Sophie, more of a ' let's stop and look at these dandelions ' type companion, saunters along slowly. Muddy feet are washed in the stream before they're allowed in the car and driven home. We stop off at the local 24 hour store for milk. The forecourt a mass of chrysanthemums for All Saints Day. Home to find 'the font' polishing the dining table - the scene of Sophie's chicken devouring crime.

Sunday morning in deepest, deepest France profonde.

Still unsure which would have been the better photo - a picture of Sophie enjoying eating chicken on the dining table, or a photo of what Angus and "the font" looked like when they saw Sophie on the table. Sophie, as Bouncing Bertie of Scotland will tell you (with his story of Hamish, a lace tablecloth and scones) has also left a memorable image in my imagination!

Yes, a photo of Sophie on the table would have been quite a treat for her fans, I have always regretted not taking one of the 'Hamish and the scones' incident! Gail.

The Boy Scout motto, 'leave no trace behind' comes to mind when thinking of 'the font' polishing the table--Perhaps it was originally Sophie's as well!

I am so happy that Sophie is out and about enjoying walks with you and Bob again.
Bob looks like the wise old owl in the third photo....big brother extraordinaire always there for his sister with words of advice.
I have to admire the farmers who toiled until midnight to get their fields harvested, but the noise must have affected quite a few neighbours I'm sure.
No matter how many times the Font polishes the dining table, every time she sees it she'll have a vision of Sophie finishing up THAT platter of chicken.....oh if you only had the photo to share.
Love the new header.......what item are they pulling apart/playing with in such deep concentration?
Happy Sunday!!

Good to see the pups out. We hope that means Sophie is better and Bob is relaxed that his sister is back.

If the vet's treatment of Sophie included steroids to remove the mushroom poisons, they would have increased her appetite and thus perhaps excuse the little darling's chicken caper. Or was it a capon caper?

Angus said...

Increased her appetite ? The combination of steroids/antibiotics has turned her into a ravenous wolf ! 'The font' has become resigned to spending half the day in the kitchen keeping the little angel happy in between meals.

No one could stay mad at either one of them.
They are truly masters of the angelic expression.

Oh the little charmers-you just can't stay upset at them for long. Very nice to see Bob's kind eyes in the car photo.

Bob is looking like a wise old man in that third picture. After this week with Sophie, he must feel like one, too.
