I am part of all that I have met.

To the hardware store in search of a miracle substance to remove insulating foam from car seats.  While ' the font ' joins the chain smoking builders waiting for the store to open, Angus takes the PON duo for a walk in the car park.

Bob and Sophie are being lifted back into the car when a little Renault draws up. Out gets a man in black trousers and a black shirt with white cuffs and collar. Chicago gangster style meets France Profonde. The shirt is unbuttoned lower than good taste would dictate. Two buttons lower. He gets out of the car opens up the trunk and lifts out a cat. He attaches  a lead to  the cats collar and walks off with it trotting beside him into the shopping centre.

Ten minutes later he returns to the car and takes out a stainless steel bowl and a can of Coke. He pours the Coke into the bowl and puts it in front of the cat. The cat slurps happily away. He then takes out a plastic bottle of water and washes the cats back and face. Cat is then lifted back into the little Renault and they drive off.

This is interesting on so many levels. Whoever knew that cats like Coke ? Whoever knew there is no magic substance to remove insulating foam from car seats ?

Amazinghow "expressive" sunflowers can be. Today they are bowing in reverence.

My expression is decidedly confused, my face scrunched and my brows furrowing more and more as I picture the whole gangster/coke slurping/back washing episode. That is the strangest thing!

Love the story about the cat, as I never knew cats drank coke!

Time and wear may prove to be the magic substance.
I think the public should be told at which hardware store the owner of the coke slurping cat shops...
Cheers, Gail.

For your car seats, nail polish remover might do it! :)

Too bad about the seat covers....

You could try lighter fuel, or WD40. (Test on an inconspicuous area first.)
Or coke, which has solvent properties, I believe.

That cat's going to need a cat dentist before long.

I wonder what possessed this man to even see if the cat liked coke to begin with?

As for your car, I feel your frustration. A few years ago, we accidentally left a can of spray insulation in my van on a hot summer day and it exploded. The foam got all over the inside of the van from top to bottom. It was easily removed from the windows and the dash, but like you, we never found a way of getting it off the seats without damaging the fabric. Sorry, I'm no help.

It could only happen to you Angus, where else in the world would you see someone taking a cat on a shopping trip and giving it coke to drink? I don't think I've stopped laughing about this all morning. What did Bob and Sophie think of the cat ?

If the cat were human, I would say it was diabetic and needed a sugar hit. Cats are often diabetic needing insulin shots at various times of the day, but the Coke, I dunno!

Do you have 'Goo Gone' over there? That might work - of course then you might need a magic remedy to remove remaining Goo Gone residue.

That is fantastic! What a hoot. I wonder...would coke get insulation foam off of car seats?

Insulating foam is a tenacious substance indeed. Good luck.
I agree, the coke may help! The poor cat.

PS.How did insulating foam find its way on to the car seats? Or shouldn't I ask..

You'll need to scroll down to yesterdays post to learn about the two morose lads.

We've tried. The answer is no. This may not be entirely Coke's fault. The car seats in the Skoda are made of a material unlike any other ! Think 1970's Chevy Malibu and you'll get some idea.

Now this cat story is award-winning, truly. What a delightful image you have created.

re Goo Gone, vegetable oil is essentially the same thing. You could try dabbing a bit on a small spot, see if it improves overnight.

Bizarre! Was it a fat cat or was it drinking Diet Coke?

There is a product called Simple Green available on
Amazon, where you can read the 5-star reviews,
which are quite enthusiastic for the Concentrate
version.

Elsewhere I read the sad tale of a man' whose car
was sprayed with foam by vandals one night. He
sought help on the web, and SG was one of the
suggestions. It worked after soaking, but of course,
he was working with a painted surface not fabric.
Might be worth a try though. Caroline could always
make use of it no doubt.

They sell crimplene car seats to fit any model in Halfords I believe, if all else fails.

Seat covers, the only hope, I believe.
Possibly a suede brush if the seats have a nap to the fabric.

P.S. I think your Skoda has been cursed from the get go.
