February 18th. The Old Farmer finally starts to dismantle his Christmas Star. Bob and Sophie lend him loud and frequent encouragement from their vantage point in the garden.
At lunchtime the mayor arrives at the garden gate. He has three spare ' 2014 - Seasonal Scenes from the Churchyard ' Calendars. '' Perhaps you could send them to friends in Scotland ? ". He says this in a tone of voice that implies autumnal churchyard scenes might be a subject that Presbyterians would particularly enjoy.
To the fish market for Sea Bass. Bob and Sophie are kept in the back of the car. The smell of fresh fish enhances their already unbridled enthusiasm for life.
Amid the chaos of events in Kiev this video of a piper stands out :

We can imagine the excitement of fresh fish scent.

The star has been taken down? I hope someone has notified air traffic control at Toulouse.
Cheers! Gail.
It's always good to have support when taking down Christmas decorations, and loud frequent barks are very encouraging to help get the task done.
Bouncing Bertie may be right, the Toulouse air traffic controllers may go on strike to have the star put back up....they seem to strike for any reason...smile.
I totally understand why Bob and Sophie feel the way they do about the fish market, I feel the same way about the bakery.
I'm with Bob and Sophie, think we'll be having Sea Bass for tea as well followed by some pastries, that are never going to be as good as those you've pictured above.
Angus, having teased us with such wonderful photos and whetted our appetites maybe you should consider starting a mail order service?
Great action shot of Sophie.
Sea Bass. Lovely, enjoy!

I saw that piper...was he thinking of Nero?
I'm glad they found something to be even more excited about!
Perhaps you could offer the calendars as a giveaway, or fund-raiser of some sort. A few more euros toward the church restoration?
That piper may be mad, but he seems the most sane thing about the whole dreadful mess in Kiev.
The sound of bagpipes always gets to me. This lone piper in the face of such fury has a precedent in times gone by, doesn't he? My maternal grandparents came from the Kiev vicinity in the early 1900s, fleeing progroms. The region has such a history of violence, but this seems even more awful than ever. Thank you for the link.
The Pipes are the best for battle, stirs up the blood and they are easier to hear than a drum too. Or so say my historical reenacting friends and relations..
The star is coming down...finally!
Is there an appropriate wine to be served in celebration?
