He is poor that can't promise.
The good weather brings activity. The Old Farmer does some arc welding to the underside of the venerable Mercedes. Finished, he wanders over for a chat . '' Off to see a lady in Lyons " he informs us. He then smiles and taps the right side of his nose three times with his middle finger.
The German billionaires must be about to arrive. A small army of workmen beavering away on the chateau until dark. Whoever is the last to leave forgets to turn off the lights. Every window in the castle left illuminated all night. Quite a festive sight.
For Bob and Sophie life is good. There is excitement everywhere. Birds in the hedge, deer on the other side of the fence, pilgrims on the lane, plants to be excavated. They have now effectively colonized the wooden table in the garden. Bob sits at one end facing the house. Sophie reclines at the other. From this vantage point nothing that goes on in the village can escape their attention. We rediscover that eternal truth - when you have dogs in the house you laugh all day.
