Design or oversight.
At the cafe under the arcades all the parking spaces are taken. The lady with the blue dressing gown and the curlers is standing at the bar talking to a visitor. An unsmiling, thin faced man with a pigtail and an ill fitting blue linen jacket. One side of the jacket hangs three inches lower than the other as if it's weighed down with enough small change to feed a slot machine for a week. The dressing gown lady is formally attired in track suit bottoms, a striped 'matelot' tee shirt and high heels of exceptional rake and height. The ski ramp heels make her walk very slowly. She asks the man in the lopsided jacket to carry her beer for her. The trademark curlers remain in place. Design or oversight ?
From the balcony above the opticians a large white dog barks at Bob and Sophie. They bark back. They do this every day without having the faintest idea where the sound is coming from. All the dogs seem happy with this arrangement.

Uneven jacket + curlers. A perfect match?
Perhaps the curlers are to give the impression that she's going somewhere important, later.
Did the sight make you smile or shake your head ?
Do you ever feel overdressed when you're at the cafe under the arcades, Angus?
A new level of French Chic. You'll see curlers on the runways next year. I look forward to reading your blog every day.
