A full hour.

The year is turning its pages more quickly now. The smell of autumn in the air. A jacket needed on the morning walk. Today, the little road that runs across the fields down to the valley shrouded in shadows. The advent of cool weather means the PONs get a full hour of egret chasing and hedge thrashing before it's time to get back in the car.

We head off to the local McDonalds. One place where you can be sure the coffee doesn't taste like liquid rust. Why are the Italians so uniformly good at making coffee and the French so bad ? 'Shiny Bacon' makes a reappearance on the 'American staples' menu. There was a time when Angus would have welcomed and been able to digest a bacon burger at eight in the morning. Sadly, only the first of those applies these days.

Sophie returns home looking as if she's been dragged through a hedge backwards - twice.

Bob is having a troublesome quiff day.

It's the time of the year when the local farmers show their 'country' skills and set up scarecrows on the village greens. One of those local traditions that is borderline creepy. Eagle eyed bloggers will see that the ankles of each of these new scarecrow arrivals has been 'de-threated' by a healthy sprinkling of Eau de Bob.

A PON boys work is never done.

And here, to prove you can find anything on the internet, is a review of a Shiny Bacon burger. Scores 6/20. Perhaps I didn't miss much after all. http://www.myburger.fr/chronique-1325-double-shiny-bacon-mcdonald-s-avis-test.html

No, no, Angus, Sophie just looks as though she's had a wonderful time ! But come to think of it, isn't hedge bashing almost the same as being pulled through one backwards - twice.
Eau de Bob every day - phew - those scarecrows will soon know who's boss !

More than borderline in the creepiness stakes, I'd say.
I'm sure Sophie could help you out with the shiny bacon, Angus.
Cheers! Gail.

Glad to see that our Fillet-o-fish and McChicken sandwich scored better. Lesley

Sophie knows whys it's called 'shiny' bacon
It's because it wouldn't take her long to 'polish' it off :-)

Au goût, on ne sent rien...sums it all up....like we say here, "It ain't saying nothing." No shiny bacon for me that's for sure but the other occupant in this house will have it shiny or dull.
The PONs are having a wonderful day and that's all that matters.
Those scarecrows are scary, but somehow I don't think they would work for my pigeon "terrorists" here....Bob did a good job.

A PON boys AND PON girl's work is never done! And I'm with you, I'll just stick to the coffee at McDonald's and pass on anything on the menu that has "shiny" in it!

I wish autumn would find us - heavy rain, heavy humidity and a misty fog. Odd for us. However, at 0530 this morning it was a lovely time for a stroll in the yard. You see, since our new 3 month old arrival yesterday - our house has been blessed with a new puppy. Karma is her name and she's a labrador/mastiff cross. Our other 2 are slightly miffed but yet intrigued. Karma just wants to play and play. It will be an interesting autumn indeed.

Congratulations to the mrsdunacanmahoagany family on their new arrival, Karma!!! Nothing like a puppy to keep everyone on their toes!

When I feel the need for a greasy eatable item, I just think about drinking a bottle of cooking oil. That takes care of that!

A new puppy - how lovely!
We've just adopted a five year old retired breeding yellow Lab., to keep company with our ten year old (yellow) Lab. Inca, the youngster, is much more of a puppy than we'd thought, but having had Labs for over thirty years we know they never really grow up - or calm down !
As a Labrador/mastiff cross, Karma is going to be a big girl !
