The logo.

Another perfect morning. Cool enough to charge down through the fields to the stream without being bothered by humidity. Bob chases egrets, Sophie snuffles in hedges. Bobs tail continues to wave as if its got a mind of its own.

There is an end of summer shirt sale in the shopping mall. The old lines being disposed of at 70% off. A chance to pick up some blue striped cotton shirts. The young lady behind the counter wonders if I'd like to try the shirts on. Angus declines this kind offer. Shopping is an experience to get over and done with as quickly as possible. The store, which specializes in rugby wear, does size XXXXXL. How big must some of these people be ?

When we get home 'The Font' helpfully observes that the shirts have got an embroidered logo on the back. This is a surprise. Angus has never had clothing with a logo.  He doesn't intend to start now. " Perhaps you can wear them in America ? ". Time to check the 'returns' policy.

Perhaps it is just me, but I find the male maniquins all grouped together in the store a tad bit threatening.

Two comments ... and a question: The blue rose of England? A springbok crippled by scoliosis? And has Bob rearranged the stars of the Southern Cross?

I share your views on embroidered logos, although I am not as extreme as a former (American) flat mate, who used to cut out the labels from the INSIDE of all her clothes. Cheers, Gail.

Yes. They do have that 'riot in progress' look. They also have been placed so that getting to the displays behind is impossible.

This is France. When it comes to anything foreign it's the thought that counts.

When I was growing up logos didn't exist ( with the possible exception of Levi's ). The Cost Centres are logocentric. That is progress (?)

XXXXXL would make a great nightshirt.....or tent.

I'm with you on the labels -- We were just cutting them off our new lab jackets at work. We just didn't like the name "Dickies" on the outside pockets...

Hmmm...given they were marked down so much, we are thinking you may have just picked up your first batch of Christmas presents. Sometimes deep discount and all sales final, no return are synonymous.

Creepy mannequins Those logos look quite International, and are possibly a similar idea to "one size fits all"? Unfortunately Bonnie n Kenzie may be right about the sales items, but the Cost Centres will probably be delighted !
From our experience, if the XXXXXL size is made anywhere on the Asian continent, it's probably equivalent to a European size 6.
Bob and Sophie look bemused - perhaps they spotted the logos before 'The Font' .
