Mischief is returning

Out with Sophie for our early morning mole hunt across the village green. It's time to have the laurel hedge trimmed. From the road The Rickety Old Farmhouse looks like a bungalow.

A trip to the cheese shop. 'The Fonts' favourite is Banon, a goats cheese from Provence that comes wrapped in a vine leaf and tied with twine. The name has recently taken on a different connotation. Bob gets a little Salers. His tail does its thwack-thwack-thwack routine.

Today the PONs are charged up and ready for anything.

The good news is that ...

Bobs paralyzed eyelid is now 50% operational... and improving by the day.

His sister is getting five walks a day.

Yesterday, the family diva managed to get on her hind legs and pull the pork chops off the kitchen table. By the time we'd noticed they'd gone, they'd gone.

We have pasta for dinner.

Mischief is returning, in spades, to deepest, deepest France profonde.

This made me laugh out loud. A Tweet from a very feisty retired American lady: https://twitter.com/madeleine/status/824320652278693892

Today's message came as a relief, not only because the dynamic duo are both getting better day by day but also because of the pork chops. I have always marvelled at your apparent PON disciplinary skills, whereby PONs do not (except occasionally) get up on the furniture, enter rooms that are "off limits" and so forth. So when Cherry figured out she could reach food placed apparently far out of reach on the counter by standing with her rear feet on the door of the washing machine, I naturally thought "this would never happen at the Rickety Old Farmhouse." But now I know!

Great news about Bob's eye. Once again, the 'Font' is proved correct!
As for her preferred choice of cheese - difficult ethical decision there - is it better to boycott or to eat the Bannon?
Cheers, Gail.

STOLEN PORK CHOPS: cooked? or not cooked? Wonderful news about BOB's eye - clearly his ailments were attached to his sister's well being. Wondering about those pork chops, here on the Westcoast of Canada. With warm regards to all at the ROF.

Sophie's bad lag has caused her owners to forget just how agile she can be. In this case she used a chair to clamber up onto and off the table. No doubting it was Sophie. She had that ' I'm so happy but so bad ' look.

Devour is the right course of action.

Uncooked. We were woken at 5.45 am with a ' I need to go out' yelp - their reappearance followed along soon after.

Seems everything is back to normal at the ROF. You will now have to use those eyes in the back of your head when Sophie is around. What a bad girl she is - hope she's learned her lesson ! Good news about Bob's eye.

GO Sophie!! Pork chops make the peanut butter sandwiches our Goldie hastily spat out when yelled at this afternoon seem pretty tame though.

Clever Sophie!
I hope you chewed up that Bannon as forcefully as possible.

Oh dear what a great big belly full of laughter I am having this morning.
"By the time we'd noticed they'd gone, they'd gone."
Sophie I am so happy that you are back up to mischief. I understand how you feel and I know that you are just making up for lost time when you couldn't move around.
Where's the PORK????
Brownie says "Go Sophie GO!!"

The return of function to Bob's eye is the very best of news! We're overjoyed.

Aren't you glad she's back!

Bannon, a better cheese than a man. Ban the man , eat the cheese.

I STILL believe that Bob will soon be 100% all over. Such a good boy!
And I STILL believe that Sophie is hilariously funny...in an "evil diva" way. "Let the staff eat pasta!"
Love that girl Sophie and her devoted Bob!!!
Bannon: I heard that it is best served wrapped in a Russian flag, then tied with a thick & harsh rope and hung out to dry from the Statue of Liberty...then it's spit upon by the founding fathers and served to either Trump or the Devil (I always get those 2 mixed up!) in Hades. Piping hot, of course!

I am so happy Bob once again has a silky coat and functioning eye. How devoted that poor boy is to his sister is amazing. Angus, if you ever break your leg you must completely hide you discomfort and have no change in routine.

What splendid news about Bob’s eye function. And Sophie making mischief in the kitchen?
It sounds as if the Rickety Old Farmhouse is almost back to business as usual.

Ah, this brought a much needed smile.
So, so happy for both PON's. May the mischief continue.

Yay, Bob! It's unbelievable what stress can do to both us humans and our four-legged friends. Love the tweet :) Interestingly enough, my ex-husband's grandfather was a New York City orphan who was sent down South on an orphan train in 1906 or so when he was three years old. He was adopted by an Italian couple with no other children and raised strictly Catholic. As an adult he discovered he was adopted (they had never told him) and later found out his young mother was a Russian Jew who had arrived at Ellis Island just days before giving birth and leaving him at the orphanage...

All the pictures are great, but the fourth one really makes me smile! They are waiting for the morning meeting to begin, and learn what the agenda for the day will be! Such good news about Bob's steady recovery. Sophie, oh my, what can I say?
