As warm and bright as a summers day. On our way back from the pre-lunch walk we pass a couple heading to the car park. Their arms laden with daffodils. I smile at this sign of Spring.
As we turn the corner by the Salle de Fetes the source of the daffodils becomes apparent. The couple have pretty much picked all the flowers along the ditch by the gate. A few solitary specimens survive along the side wall.
Bob looks horrified that this could have happened on his watch.

Oh, that's terrible - poor Bob - he'll have to keep a sharper eye open in future ! It's so selfish when people pick flowers from public places - or worse, someone's garden.
Disgusting behaviour - what's the matter with people? 'Oh those are pretty...I'll just have them' grrrrr!
They'd have brought so much pleasure to many people, now they're just stuck in a vase and will die in a week!
This has really 'got my goat'
OH Dear. Poor Monsieur Bob but trust Mlle Sophie to have a very practical approach to life. It must be a world wide thing. Talking to the Parks and Garden people in town today they were telling me how they would love to fill the park with bulbs as we are cool climate but that people just steal them for their own garden. Charmingly the Head Gardener said at least they appreciate quality.
One of my friends went out into her garden (enclosed but not locked) to find a woman from the village busily clipping flowers. My friend, who was very proud of her garden and devoted most of her time to it, asked what the woman thought she was doing. The woman replied that nature belonged to everybody!
Especially her, apparently.
Hmm. Salmon versus daffodils. Easy winner there.
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
That happened near us - there was a field full of beautiful daffodile which people could admire. Until one day the hordes descended, picked them all and left nothing to be enjoyed. It makes my blood boil - and even more so, Taste of France's story above!!
Doubtful that the woman clipping flowers would take such an ambivalent attitude if the positions were reversed !
The nerve!
Bob, the vandals were on one side of gate and you were on the other. Now go and enjoy some salmon dear, wonderful boy.
Daffodil snatchers = black hearted varmints !!!
I wish the flowers had gone unpicked. Daffodils seem the very essence of the arrival of spring.
Many years ago I spent a summer working at a “tourist attraction” gift shop with a flower bed filled with extravagant dahlias. One day a tourist came in to the shop, her arms overloaded with freshly picked dahlias. She seemed blissfully unaware that she might have erred. We just shook our heads in wonder.
We've never thought of you as a daffodil fancier, Bertie !!!
Inca xx
Salmon trumps daffodils in our opinion.
Happy to see you back the last few days! Mr Beau & I were worried.
We planted "Many" , MANY bulbs a few years back, and the deer seem to enjoy them each spring.
I'd rather have the deer nibbled them back every year, than have people grab them !
That's very kind of you and Mr. Beau! Actually I've been commenting as just "Stephanie" on Blogger as Google wasn't "recognizing" me for a while and then suddenly is again. I don't understand these mysteries. :)
