The devil makes work for idle hands.

7:00 am and it's quite clear the PONs are expecting to be entertained.

Bob finds 'Lamb on a Rope' under the shrubs by the far gate. This keeps him occupied for all of two minutes. His sister then announces that she wants to join him in savaging it. The village noise level increases exponentially. Angus is finally cajoled into a full fifteen uninterrupted minutes of playing throw. Sophie shrieks with delight.

Angus takes the top cover off the pool. It then starts to rain. Sophie sits and watches.

The roses are pruned. It starts to rain more heavily. This year the roses have been under planted with sixty lavenders. So far there hasn't been enough sun to make them grow. There has however been more than enough rain to make sure the lavenders are well watered in.

Having made phone calls to men in dark suits Angus wonders what to do with his day now that it's raining. He opts to start painting the dark bookcase in the dining room grey. This requires sanding, applying undercoat and a sense of balance when standing on the top of the step ladder trying to reach those out of the way places. It's always at this point that 'The Font' opts to call for a chat.  After two hours he is rather disillusioned with the lack of progress. He's also not sure about the colour. Bob watches on with a look on his face that says '' You'll need at least three coats on that ".

Various messages come through to reassure me that the missing sofa, lost Danish chairs and delayed carpets will make it to Scotland . The art work is en route from Edinburgh.  The table and glassware that the suppliers swore would be delivered has magically become '' out of stock ".

The New York Times has a story about a cellist who walked the Compostella pilgrimage, playing Bach at churches along the way. Did he pass your place? https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/09/arts/music/bach-cello-dane-johansen.html

I think he walked the Spanish route from the French frontier to Santiago.

Yes I saw the Trump - Irn Bru story. You couldn't make it up...

I always think that if you are up a ladder painting things - it is best done when someone else is in the house. Just in case.

Nice to see your dining room - it looks a fine place to sit and eat your cakes and drink wine.

Angus and other Scots ROF friends; what does Irn-Bru taste like? Looks like orange soda but ....sounds like something akin to Moxie. :-) Also, I loved that pilgrimage trailer, wish I had healthy knees.
What is the thought behind lavender under planting the roses? Helps the roses? Companion plants? Is that a French thing? BTW, the PONs look fantastic, a joy to see them healthy and so happy. Pam in NH

...sigh... it concerns me that my mind has turned to the possible creation of an 'air-wall' to prevent the landing of helichoppers carrying megalomaniac muck-stirrers into the Bonny Land... YAM xx

I don't recall ever seeing a photo of the dining room before, either - it is beautiful! Be careful - I fell off a ladder some years ago, and it wasn't good, lol!

Is trump going to ban tomatoe juice and wine as well?

You can get it at Publix in Florida. It's like a very very sweet Orange Crush soda. Not quite as tangy. Bit more fizzy. FYI, not a political comment, but sodas and juice boxes have been banned from my house for 35 years, There is a lanai for those. It can be bleached and pressure washed. It is impossible to remove red Hawiian Punch stains from carpets.

You should try living HERE! It's like living in alternative universe.

Difficult to describe Irn Bru - think of a quart of sugar in a pint of water and you're half way there.

As for the lavender we're trying to get the scent from the rose garden stretching out from May thru October.

It's at times like this the Queen earns her keep.
