The first sunflowers.

Bob wanders into the bedroom at 5:32 to let me know that the best day ever is waiting.

I tell him to go away.

The happy but continual thwack-thwack-thwack of his tail against the floorboards stops me from drifting back to sleep.

5:47 am. Angus gets up and joins Bob in what is going to be the best day ever.

Sophie hurtles round the garden in search of C-A-T-S.

The first of the sunflowers come into bloom. Yesterday there weren't any. Today there's a few. Tomorrow, if the heat holds,  the fields will be awash with them.

Brussel Sprouts in the supermarket. The PONs love Brussel Sprouts. These come from Morocco. An unusual place to  grow them. I buy two bags. These will be cooked and added to today's kibbles. For Bob this will be proof that today is simply the greatest.

Yesterday the special needs home has a karaoke afternoon in the village hall. Despite it being 36 degrees burgers and hot dogs are cooked on an outside grill. The two cooks , still in their aprons, finally take themselves off and fall asleep under the lime tree on the village green. Around them the special needs folk dance and sing. Local farmers come to watch the Sweden v Switzerland football game. The two groups coexist happily. The lady cooks slumber on oblivious to the shouts of the farmers or the reggae beat of the karaoke fans. On their evening walk Bob and Sophie are delighted to discover that the special needs folk are messy eaters.

And here's some July 4th music . Bach turns into Paul Simon: https://youtu.be/O8U9bzT968k?t=82

What a great summers day. I am surprised that the Pons enjoy brussel sprouts - do they fart a lot after them?

Wind, PONs and a vegetable heavy diet go together.

Quite a hive of activity! It sounds like happy chaos.

And were the farmers still there for England-Columbia? At least one member of this household is still recovering from the emotional rollercoaster....

I don't like sprouts and never buy them, so sadly Inca Lab. has not had the pleasure of such delicacies, and we're spared the anti-social results ! We do like broccoli though, and that has the same effect !
If the sunflowers are out and there are left over BBQ offerings, then it's a mega best day ever !

Good way of putting it - it is indeed a mega best day ever ! If only there were discarded hot dog buns and bits of frankfurter on the village green every day.

There was an almighty thunderstorm that arrived at quarter to eight and caused a power outage five minutes later. Football fans had to go home and wait for the power company to flip the switch.

The latter part of the sentence sounds like French village life. The first part not so much !

I've been out enjoying the Scottish Summer (it deserves that capital ess)!!! That makes it one of the best days ever for the YAMster - if I had a tail, it would be thwack -thwack-thwacking!!! YAM xx

Entirely too humid to cook outside here today. Dogs under ceiling fans and sprawled over ac vents.
How do you cook brussels sprouts for them? Apple loves green beans, and Andrew, carrots.. so I might give these a try.
Happy 4th!

I was tossing cherry tomatoes right out of our garden to the dogs this morning and a few enjoyed them - I wonder how they'd feel about a brussel sprout? Probably the same as I do, unless it's roasted in olive oil and garlic of course.
