Rolly polly.

The sun tries to peep through the cloud but finally gives up and retreats. Our day starts overcast with a chill wind. This is PON weather. Two invigorated companions ignore the bracing breeze and scurry off down the lane. Last week it was 25 degrees, this morning a tenth of that. I'm hoping that the wind means that the two village tikes won't be able to fly their drone.

At the supermarket check out a forest of orchids ( E5.95 ) and bamboo plants ( E19.95 ) has sprouted overnight. Neither orchids nor bamboos seem to be selling. By comparison our bottle of milk seems somewhat mundane.

At the bakers we narrowly avoid running into a couple who have been sharing a croissant with an Old English Sheepdog. What a 'meeting' that would have been. Bob doesn't notice the interloper but Sophie whimpers in frustration. A croissant end soon makes her forget the loss of a playmate. Both PONs devour their piece of croissant with tail wagging enthusiasm. In fact everything the PONs do is carried out with tail wagging, high speed, enthusiasm.

A jam rolly polly cake makes an appearance. We haven't seen one of this type before. I would ask the bakers wife about it but she's in one of her pre-natal moods. This is the same as one of her post-natal moods. Both are marked by a near complete lack of communication.

Our summer weather has returned this weekend after a cold spell during the week. It seems that our weather is doing the opposite to you. Enjoy your week!!!

You have tikes with drones, we have an encampment of gitanes with not one but two trucks with hydraulic basket lifts. They used one to reach the plugs high on the street light poles that are there for the Christmas decorations. What could the other be for? It seems like a big investment to get around paying for electricity.

Who knew that croissants were such an important part of the sheep dog diet?
Full marks to the baker for visual impact on the roly poly cake!

Goodness. It does seem a lot of cost and rtrouble to access the electricity supply. There again The Old Farmer has been known to plug into the village electicity transformer.

You can be sure the good weather here won't last.

Sheep dogs know the word for croissant in every language under the sun. The fact that croissant is the word for croissant everywhere in the world should not detract from their skill set.

I think Sophie knows a great diversion when she sees one - Food always works for my crew and me too!

The rolly polly cake is pretty (raspberry and basil (??) leaves a-top?), but I remember those as being rather tasteless logs of cake and jam so this iteration doesn't do it for me.
The offerings shown are always appreciated, however, given life in a land of non-existent bakeries.
