Seasonal irregularity.

The village cats have taken to promenading across the lawn on their way back from nocturnal adventures. At sunrise three of them proceed line abreast through the orchard. It takes the PONs all of thirty seconds to come to terms with their audacity. There is then a howling as high speed chase mode is employed.

The C-A-T-S are up and over the garden wall before the angelic duo get within a hundred feet of them.

Bob is the first to recognize they've gone. He gets up into the back of the car. His sister finally follows. By this time Bob has settle down and is enjoying a nap. His peace and quiet doesn't last.

This morning off to a bakers we don't usually go to. They still have Christmas decorations in the window. This aspect of French culture is something Anglo-Saxons find it difficult to come to terms with.

Brexit means we will need French International Driving Permits if we want to hire a car in the UK. Angus and the PONs set off for the government office that supplies one of the eight pieces of information needed to fill in the online application.  French government departments love acronyms.

Does the need for international permits mean you already have French driver licenses? I've never quite understood how that works for the various EU neighbors. Or, as perhaps in your case, soon to be ex-neighbors.
I keep hoping the Brits will realize they were snookered and toss out the whole thing, but it seems to be the same in the US: We're going to play by the rules no matter how dishonest the process was. [sigh]

Yes, we have French driving permits. Someone, somewhere must be making money out of all the additional paperwork that has to be applied for. Even our insurance company in the UK has written to say we'll need to find a French insurer.

Christmas decorations in March? Very odd indeed. We feel uncomfortable with that. They should have been down the first week of January.

The Christmas decos are still in the window in our nearest boulangerie too.

Isn't Tiktok for kids? That's the only time I've ever encountered it -- when in the company of the school aged daughters of a friend. She says its a safe online space for kids who are too young for FB.

Ooops -- reading the article I see TikTok's rep isn't so squeaky any more.

I'd be worried that the cakes had been there since Christmas too!

Allow and extra hour at passports. You just know the French frontier folk will be checking everything .... slowly.

Honestly, the display seems more winter-ish that Christmasy.

Hello Angus, I understood that we would be able to travel in the UK on our French driving licenses. Found this on the internet .."The UK has confirmed that EU licences will be valid for both visitors to the UK and
EU residents in the UK (subject to current conditions). In addition an International
Driving Permit (IDP) will not be required in the UK..." Mind you, this was some months back. Do you have more up-to-date information?
