After last nights strong winds the day dawns unseasonably warm and bright. The lane is covered in fallen branches. The horses in the field by the 'Y' junction wander over to see Sophie who ignores them. Why cows should be seen as intimidating and horses aren't is one of those imponderables of the canine psyche. The builder drives by. He has a new Mercedes electric van. The van is both very shiny and very large. Unusually for a van it is finished in a silver metallic rather than the more usual white. He announces that he'll be along on Saturday morning to get the tiles laid and the foundations for the pergola poured. ' M'Ongoose. We'll work through the weekend to get it done '. The man with anger management issues also passes by. He stops and informs me that his court case is still on for the week of November 18th. He then says something remarkably rude about the German billionaire before heading off.
A large black and white C-A-T is asleep on the town hall steps. It wakes and moves off at the speed of light when it determines that a howling diva is heading in its direction. Sophie is delighted that her ' up front' guarding technique has worked so well.With the little market town out of bounds Sophie is getting half a dozen lockdown induced walks a day. I'd like to say all this additional exercise is making her 'svelte' but it isn't. There again under all that fur who knows what's going on ?

I think Sophie's intuition is correct about cows being more intimidating than horses. I've been chased by cows and they are scary when provoked. Horses on the other hand are more like dogs - always on the lookout for treats. Your description of Sophie's "up-front" guarding technique somehow reminds me of the president's "up front" debate technique and, according to reports, he was similarly delighted with its effectiveness in the first debate. We'll have to see how he handles a muted mike - kind of like telling Sophie not to bark at C-A-Ts.
And the cost of a silver Mercedes electric van is? Just wondering...
No idea, but how much of it is going on Angus' bill? No wonder the builder is keen to work over the weekend!

I fear Sophie would display a decidedly 'violent' side to her character. This character trait, thankfully, only extends to C-A-T-S.
It will be interesting to see how tonights 'mute' button changes the debate.

Our maremma girl - Nellie shares Sophie's intense dislike of C-A-T-S. She has been known to kill any feral C-A-T-S than may venture anywhere near us. Unfortunately, her dislike of small furry animals extends to small furry dogs as well. Which did cause some problems with the neighbour's at one stage. Thankfully, the said small furry dog passed away, with no assistance from Nellie and all is well in this corner of rural New Zealand.
wonder if the court case will resemble a Trump Debate....will there be a mute button?
