City pair.

'The Font' is in Scotland for another day. There is a direct flight from Toulouse to Edinburgh on a Monday afternoon. The return is on a Friday. As a city pair it's about as unfashionable and untravelled as you can get. The alternative to a direct flight with a Low Cost Carrier is connecting through London, Paris or Frankfurt with long layovers.  In high summer this does not appeal. British Airways continues to cut flights due to staff shortages. This is what happens when you fire everyone during a pandemic and then discover you can't rehire them.

The Scottish painters, plumbers and electricians have all been told what they have to do.  It was hoped they might be able to come in next week but the British Open golf tournament is coming in July and they are all booked up solid. 'If we get a chance we'll come in and get everything done before you're back' they all quasi-promise.

Sophie is still doing her best to adjust to the sudden, rapid decline in culinary offerings. Last night there was Mac and Cheese. This scored 12/10.

The young moorhens enjoy the start of day sunshine. Most hop across the water lily leaves to safety when they hear us coming. One absent minded individual hurtles , amid much squawking and wing flapping, into the safety of the iris fronds at the last moment. I like the moorhens - their innocence signals all will be well.

Thursday morning music ( listened to with the windows all the way down ) as Sophie heads off for her curly croissant ends :https://youtu.be/hqrWXNMTaKY?t=29

I always have a spot soft for Atlanta ( having studied there ) but had never heard of Peachtree Corners - which sounds like an intriguing concept :https://www.nextgov.com/emerging-tech/2022/05/peachtree-corners-continues-lead-way-american-smart-cities/367563/

Nobby is incredulous that a supper of Mac and Cheese could represent a "decline in culinary offerings. 15/10, surely?

Sounds like the Scottish workmen may be taking lessons from the French? I envy your experience in Atlanta. I've been trying to persuade my husband that Georgia is clearly where things are happening in the US (good and bad!) so maybe it's the perfect place for our re-entry to America after all these years. He remains unpersuaded. I suppose you saw Marjorie Taylor Greene's recent Peach Tree malaprop? I generally don't think it's nice to make fun of people for this kind of thing, but in her case I'd consider making an exception.

Inca has never tasted Mac and Cheese, but would be quite happy to share with Sophie, should there be any leftovers. I'm not a fan of the dish, not being a pasta lover.

Extra goodies from the bakery will cover for the lull in home cooking.
