Implausible.

A sunny but humid morning. The sort of weather the French call 'lourd'.  The sunflowers in the field on the other side of the lane seem to be enjoying the heat. The PONette and Angus less so. Think of Galveston in summer and you'll get the picture.

A man in blue dungarees and a notable beer belly stops his white van outside the village hall. He gets out and pastes up four election posters. He's there when we start our tour of the village and still there when we come back half an hour later. He isn't going to win any prizes for speed. Work done the man picks up his brush and bucket of paste and heads off to the next village. One of the posters has the implausible image of the President standing next to his local candidate in the middle of a field of sunflowers. To add to the implausibility both the President and the local candidate are wearing suits and ties. In our 12 years here the only people we've ever seen in suits are a) The deputy Prefet who came to hand out medals b) a group of Parisian politicos who came to explain to the villagers what the government was doing for them ( this was a short meeting ) and c) Angus who wears them for funerals.

The water leak behind the Anger Management Mans wall continues to gush away. It still seems unhealthily 'foamy'. Sophie sensibly avoids the zinc bath but drinks from the sodden grass around.

This made me laugh :https://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/1532708007263477763

We've been hearing so many anecdotes about the Queen's sly sense of humour these past few days. In a country that values a GSOH above almost any other quality, surely this is part of her enduring popularity. I do like the one about the man who was embarrassed by his mobile phone ringing in the presence and when he quickly turned it off the Queen apparently commented "I do hope it wasn't someone important".
Cheers! Gail.

The video about the Queen made me laugh as well. It made me wonder whether the Emperor of Japan could also make me laugh. I suspect so, but the Imperial Household Agency makes sure he has no opportunity. We are having beautiful summer weather here in Tokyo, but according to the forecast, today is the last day and it is going to rain for at least ten days starting tomorrow. I really hate the rainy season, although the taxi drivers scold me if I complain and always remind me it's needed for the rice to grow. Wish I could send some your way!

Good stories about the Queen and the American interlopers and the inappropriate mobile phone!
That soapy water looks as though it's coming from a washing machine - is Anger Management man doing his spring cleaning?
Remember Howard Johnson's well, on our first trip to the States in 1971. The first time we'd come across food excesses, when my husband ordered the all you can eat meal of the day. Coming from Britain it was a revelation, especially when I ordered ice cream afterwards, and was asked to choose which flavours I wanted from the 57 varieties at the ice cream bar! In the UK at the time we probably had half a dozen to choose from!

I worked behind the soda fountain at a Howard Johnson's for several summers in early 70's holding down a teenage summer job. Had to wear the traditional polyester blue and white checked uniform, snow white apron, white nurses shoes, and you should have just seen us at the end of the day after scooping ice cream for 12 hour shifts. Can't stand ice cream to this day but sorry to see the last one is gone.

This comment is sent with best wishes after seeing Sophie drink beside the zinc trough in your post today. As mentioned before, I’ve always wondered if farm chemicals find their way into the stream, but mostly about Sophie drinking water from the zinc trough (or water that has been in it) as zinc can cause loss of appetite, jaundice, high bilirubin, lethargy, etc. Here is just one article about what zinc can do to dogs https://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/toxicity/c_dg_zinc_toxicity however please consider searching for your own info about “zinc poisoning & dogs” including talking to your vet if drinking water that has been sitting in zinc could have been an issue for her in April. Feel free to delete this comment if it is not useful, but if it is, perhaps “The Font” who loves to shop could find Sophie a special water bottle dish combo to take with you on your summer walks. She is a beautiful girl and I enjoy reading her about her adventures!
