'Permacrisis' voted the most used new word of the year, or so the six am radio broadcast informs me. Seems about right although polycrisis might be more accurate.
'The Font' returns at ten fifteen last night. An hour late. The flight was delayed because a passenger on the inbound leg needed a wheel chair. You'd think this would be an every day eventuality that could be easily dealt with but it seems to have taken the airline completely by surprise. Smooth and seamless are not words that can be applied to the airlines ground handling. The poor inbound passenger has to sit alone on the aircraft until a chair is located. The outbound passengers are corralled into an airless and windowless space where they are told nothing about the delay.
Sophie and Angus head into town for a bacon roll and a Jaffa Cake. This morning a table with hand gel and a small pile of napkins has appeared. So too has a bowl of flowers that sits on the pavement by the front door. Sophie is disappointed that she's not allowed to drink from the flower vase. We have to take a table by the parking meters. Our usual table by the window has been taken by two serious looking students who are staring intently at their laptops.
We stop , briefly, to look at the Knight Templars house. It was built in the 12th century and is one of the oldest houses still standing in town. Angus has doubts about the paint scheme on the doors and windows. The window surrounds are a particularly hideous off pink that is exactly the same colour as the antiseptic ointment that was applied to cuts and bruises when he was a child.
On our way home we detour to the beach . A young couple have set up a 'container' restaurant by the car park. Angus gets his second coffee of the morning and Sophie ( Joy of joys ) is allowed to try their new line in dog ice creams. Sophie loves to eat anything ( unless its red in which case she won't go near it ) but the dog ice cream is licked half heartedly and then ignored.

Our Fred wasn't too keen on the dog ice cream but he does love a frozen chunk of banana - or a croissant end.
We had a parakeet that loved eating ice cream off a spoon, but I don't think Charlie would be too keen. Perhaps Sophie would refer a pizza bagel?

The Font's recent flying experience has made me think twice about going anywhere by air. There seem to be so many problems now. The customer is the last consideration and treated as though they are a nuisance.
No bacon roll, Jaffa cake of half a sausage today - what is the world coming to?
The interesting colour scheme belongs to the Department of Medieval History, although whether it is by their choice or the University's Estates Department is another matter. It was a challenging background for some of my daughter's graduation photos...
So you already have a regular table at the Canny Soul? Habits form quickly, don't they!
Container cafés by the sea have become a thing in Aberdeen too, catering to the dog walkers, surfers and cold water swimmers at the southern end of the city beach. Their offerings are in general a cut above the places by the amusement arcades a bit further north.
One would think it is not ice cream season for Sophie, hot dogs or warm bacon would be more seasonal.
If it is not Sophie approved, they need to change it.
Poppy Q - I think the owners of the beach cafe were keen to 'push' their dog ice cream while the sun was still out. This holds especially true in the dark, cold north where the sun rises at eight and sets at three for the next three months.

... I rather think it was the Knights Hospitaller that populated St Andrews, not their 'brother club' the Templars... and for that house to have been built in the 1100s??? Hmmm... And quite right, Sophie. Far too cold for ice cream. YAM xx
Years ago I made frozen yogurt dog treats for a play date at our home with six visiting pups. Followed the recipe exactly. The dogs would not eat the treats. They preferred MilkBones.
Germolene! I can smell it.
